Basketball Zero Tolerance Policy
PLAYER’S POLICY:
1st Offense – If a player receives a technical foul for any verbal or physical abuse towards other players, coaches, officials, scorekeeper or spectators they will be benched for the remainder of the game.
2nd Offense – If a player receives his/her second technical foul for any verbal or physical abuse towards other players, coaches, officials, scorekeeper or spectators they will be excused from the season without a refund.
COACH’S POLICY:
1st Offense – If a coach receives a technical foul for any verbal or physical abuse towards his/her players, the opposing players, the opposing coaches, officials, scorekeepers or any spectator they will be excused from that particular game immediately and an assistant coach or a parent volunteer will act as the head coach during that game.
2nd Offense - If a coach receives his/her second technical foul of the season for any verbal or physical abuse towards his/her own players, the opposing players, the opposing coaches, officials, scorekeepers or any spectator they will be excused from their coaching duties (including practices, games and any contact with his players or their families) for the rest of the season and they will be replaced by an assistant or a parent that steps up to fill in for the remainder of the season. They also may not be considered for coaching positions in the future.
SPECTATOR’S POLICY (not limited to just parents but any person who is in the gym watching a youth basketball game):
1st Offense – If a spectator verbally or physically abuses any player, coach, official, scorekeeper or any other spectator in attendance they will be asked to leave the school grounds immediately and the game will cease until the situation is handled. If they are not off the premises in a timely matter the police will be called for assistance.
2nd Offense - If a spectator verbally or physically abuses any player, coach, official, scorekeeper or any other spectator in attendance they will be asked to leave the school grounds immediately. If they are not off the premises in a timely matter the police will be called for assistance. They will then be banned from attending any other youth basketball game for the remainder of the season.
It will be left up to our officials to determine what classifies as a technical or questionable behavior. The scorekeepers are in charge of documenting all offenses and informing the full time recreation staff of any incidences immediately.
