All Level 2 Skills Criteria 1 – 9 must be evidenced

1. Evidence of your ability to help children develop an understanding of themselves & of their past (including culture, race, religion & language)
2. Evidence of your ability to help children develop life skills & appropriate social behaviour in a manner that enables them to cope with their emotions (appropriate to their age) & to make a positive contribution to society & promotes their independence
3. Evidence of your ability to assist children to develop basic aspects of memory, thinking & imagination through play
4. Evidence of your ability to help children develop their language skills & general selfexpression
5. Evidence of your ability to help children learn the boundaries of acceptable behaviour, handle children’s negative reactions & unacceptable behaviour, & encourage positive behaviour patterns
6. Evidence of your ability to observe & respond appropriately to the possibility of child abuse & neglect
7. Evidence of your ability to observe & assess children’s progress; to plan & provide a varied & appropriate routine for children, which balances their needs
8. Evidence of your ability to challenge appropriately, to ensure that foster care practice is antidiscriminatory & respects all children & their families
9. Evidence of your commitment to attend support groups & training courses

Three of Skills Criterion 10 (a-e) must be evidenced

10a. Evidence of your ability to help children & their families cope with loss & bereavement (This may be because of life threatening illnesses, separation through adoption, or loss of their idealised family)
10b. Evidence of your ability to work closely with other professionals on carrying out Care Plans
10c. Evidence of your ability to identify (in discussion with your Supervising Worker) your own training needs
10d. Evidence of your ability to assist at training events
10e. Evidence of being an active participant in the recruitment process
