  • Monday, March7—Open House/BookFair—5:30-7:00 p.m. tonight--Reading—Sorting Books. Parents--gather some books in your house. Have your child sort books into categories such as storybooks, fairytales, nursery rhymes, comic books, informational books, poems, etc. If you do not have different types of books at your house, you can just talk about different categories of books. For example, No David is a storybook, Humpty Dumpty is a nursery rhyme, All About Snakes is an informational book. Extension: Pick one book from one category. Pick another book from a different category. Read the books to your child and have them talk about how they are alike and different.Have your child practice reading the “Hot, Hot, Hot” and “Hop on the Mop” booklets to you.
  • Tuesday, March 8—Writing--Make a Card. Have your child make a thank you card, birthday card, or a special card for someone they care about.
  • Wednesday, March 9—Phonics--Practice with the sight words after play (from above) all the way to the new sight words. Many students are having difficulty remembering those ones. Have your child orally tell you a sentence with the sight words after the word “play.”Have your child practice reading the “Hot, Hot, Hot” and “Hop on the Mop” booklets to you
  • Thursday, March 10—Math—Use any objects for your child to subtract with. Make up a math problem and have your child solve the problem. For example: “There were 5 stuffed animals at the zoo. One left the zoo, how many were left?” You make up 5 picture math problems and have your child draw and give the correct math sentence on a sheet of paper complete as a math problem. Have your cross off the ones to subtract then put their answer. For example: there were 5 balls (have your child draw 5 balls) and 2 were given to friends. (Have them cross out 2 balls) How many balls are left? 5-2=3. Have your child practice reading the “Hot, Hot, Hot” and “Hop on the Mop” booklets to you
  • Friday, March11—Bring something to “Show and Tell” that begins with or has an “U” in it.

Open House/Book Fair—Monday, March 7, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Hope you can come!!!—refreshments and snacks will be available to purchase.

Dr. Seuss week—Monday—Red & Blue, Tuesday—Crazy Socks, Wed.—Wear Green, Thurs.—Dress what you want to be, Fri.—favorite Hat.
