Academic Information

30 ECTS credits/30 Swedish credits constitute an average full-time study load for a single semester of study for a native student.

Often 4 courses of 7.5 ECTS credits each are normally taken in order to achieve the total above.

If the incoming exchange student can show proficiency in Swedish, courses taught in Swedish are available to apply to. These courses are not listed in the on-line application form. To explore this possibility,the student should contact

Exchange students will apply for classes in the on-line application. This is mandatory and necessary in order for the student to be formally accepted to Linnaeus University and also to be able to apply for a student residence permit to Sweden (if applicable).

Exchange students at Linnaeus Universityare not given priority to courses.

Exchange student from Linnaeus University are required to have courses from the partner University recognized by Linnaeus University.

Pick-up service during the official arrival days

During the official arrival days, the Office of Student Affairs provides a pick-up service for incoming exchange students upon arrival in Kalmar or Växjö. A student will meet up at the airport or the train station, provided that the arrival time and date has been sent to the Office of Student Affairs by the date listed in the acceptance pack. When arriving at the University, the student will receive the keys to the accommodation and an information pack before they are taken to their housing.

Orientation Weekend

To help settle into life at Linnaeus University, a mandatory Orientation Weekend will be held the weekend after the official arrival days. During the orientation the students will receive practical and academic information.

Application Procedures for Exchange Students

Linnaeus University has an online application for exchange students applying to the University. Paper applications will not be accepted.

Exchange student application deadlines

April 15, for the autumn semester and full academic year (nominated from partner by April 1)

October 15, for the spring semester (nominated from partner by October 1)

Insurance

Students coming to Linnaeus University are responsible for carrying a comprehensive insurance, including coverage of the student accommodation in Sweden. Incoming exchange students are covered by an emergency health insurance, please see and open the pdf “Insurance for Students in Sweden”

Transcript of Records

For non-Erasmus students, the official transcript of records will be sent to the home University approximately five weeks after the end of the semester. Transcripts for Erasmus students will be sent to the student home address.

Accommodation for incoming exchange students

At present all exchange students are guaranteed accommodation on the condition that the accommodation section of the online exchange application is completed prior to the relevant deadline.

The housing guarantee can be subject to change, please follow the information on the home page: lnu.se/education/application-and-admission/exchange-studies/accepted-exchange-students?l=en

Please note, accommodation can only be arranged for a full semester of 4,5 months, if the students plan to leave earlier they will need to pay rent for the full semester. Rooms and apartments are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that those students who submit their complete applications early will be placed first.
