Nursery Rhyme: Itsy Bitsy Spider

Objective-TSW review the nursery rhyme The Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Materials-Jack Hartman’s The Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Procedure-Student’s will listen to Jack Hartman’s Itsy Bitsy Spider using hand motions that go along with song.
Evaluation- Assess using student’s responses. / Objective-TSW create their own spider webs.
Materials-construction paper, markers, black paint or black ink pad.
Procedure-In one corner of a plain sheet of construction paper, draw a spider web with a marker. Use a black washable stamp pad or black paint and have students put a thumbprint on the paper. Have students draw on the legs(8), eyes, etc. and connect the spider to the rest of the web.
Evaluation-Assess using student’s final product / Objective-TSW create their own suns. Student will identify the color yellow.
Materials-paper plate, yellow paint, wiggle eyes, markers
Procedure-Cut triangle shapes out around the edge of a paper plate to form the sun's rays. Paint yellow and let dry. Glue on wiggle eyes (or draw them) and draw nose and mouth with black marker. Sing Yellow song.
Evaluation-Assess using student’s final product.
Objective-TSW will create a spider web.
Materials-Yarn, glue, construction paper.
Procedure-Cut several pieces of yarn in various lengths. Use white glue (like Elmer's Glue) and make a spider web pattern on a piece of construction paper. Let child glue yarn onto the paper to form a spider web.
Evaluation-Assess using student’s finished product. / Objective-TSW identify insects and how a spider is an insect.
Materials-pictures of spiders, The Very Busy Spider.
Procedure-Have students tell you what they know about spiders, talk about how a spider is an insect, show the class pictures of spiders, read the story The Very Busy Spider .
Evaluation-Assess using student’s responses. / Objective-TSW use songs to learn about the sun.
Materials-Oh Mr Sun song
Procedure-Play the song Oh Mr. Sun, discuss the sun, what color it is, where it is, and how it dries up the rain.
Evaluation-Assess using student’s responses.
Objective-TSW listen to a song and discuss spiders and where we find them.
Materials- Raffi’s There’s a spider on the floor
Procedure-Play song There’s a spider on the floor, discuss where spiders are found and what we do when he find one.
