Ms. Susan Lowery
College Recruiting Manager
M&I Bank
770 North Water Street
Milwaukee, WI 53202

Dear Ms. Lowery:

During a recent college course on financial institutions, I was exposed to aspects of commercial banking. This represents a career opportunity that would allow me to combine my interest in finance and my strong interpersonal skills. I will be graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in May of 20XX with a B.S. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance.

Upon completion of my class, I continued my research to explore the commercial lending institutions in the mid West. However, only limited information about your organization was available. I would like to receive information about M & I Bank, including a recent annual report and information discussing opportunities in commercial lending.

The banking industry is an excellent career option based on my previous experience and academic programs. Last summer, I worked as an assistant bookkeeper for a local construction firm. I supervised the financial records for five major building projects including lending, payouts and accounts receivable. For the past two years, I have served as the treasurer for our Good Times Programming Board. Through this position, I dealt with contracts for major entertainment groups and budget preparation for the upcoming fiscal year. The skills and knowledge I have gained from these experiences have been rewarding.

I would appreciate any information that you could forward to me. I also would like to speak with you in the next two to three weeks after I have reviewed the material on your organization. If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at (920) 883-7722. I look forward to receiving the information and speaking with you soon.

Sincerely,

Janet Smith

Mr. Nelson Davis, Partner
Andersen
Box 4567
Milwaukee, WI 53202

Dear Mr. Davis:

After reading your brochure and researching Andersen, I have become quite interested in a permanent position upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in December 20XX. My interests are very diverse, however, I am very interested in the computerization of accounting functions. As Arthur Andersen is one of the world's largest accounting firms, an opportunity to be involved with the firm's production operations and data processing procedures is exciting.

My computer experience is rather extensive involving several programming languages, as well as numerous types of hardware. My experience involves use and implementation of Lotus Suites, Peachtree Accounting and Windows NT in a variety of work settings and special projects. My enthusiasm for computerization allows me to be flexible and adaptable to learn new systems quickly. As noted on the enclosed resume, I worked as a bookkeeper for our family business. This experience stimulated my interest in computers and accounting. Proved by my many activities, I have lots of energy to exert in work. I am an enthusiastic hard worker with the desire to learn many new concepts and skills. I would enjoy having Arthur Andersen & Company utilize this energy.

My resume is enclosed for your review. I will contact you within the next two weeks to explore this career opportunity in greater detail. I can be reached at (301) 689-2367. Thank you in advance for considering my candidacy and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Sincerely,

Lisa J. Hall
