Dear Kindergarten Families:
Our penguin unit wraps up this week, and their informational folders will come home. The students are very interested in learning facts about penguins. They enjoy non-fiction topics, and we will be learning about their endangered animals over the next month. We also took a day off penguins to discuss groundhogs!
Language Arts: We will talk about love and kindness with Valentine’s Day coming up. We will practice beginning /z/ sounds and the words big, little.
Review the letters: S, M, R, T, B, N, H, V, A, C, P, G, F, L, K, I, Q, D, Z
Sight Words: I, see, am, a, the, by, my, like, to, can, go, an, and, we, look, no, not, love, at, here, on, this, is, it, you, are, for, have, said, will, do, big, little
“Juicy” vocabulary words from A Letter to Amy: glance, peer, glide, disappoint
We continue to practice sounding out words and sentence writing, as we prepare to write a book about penguins.
Math: There is much excitement about our 100th day of school coming up! We continue to practice counting in ones, fives, and tens, and twos as we build up to our 100th Day of School!
Coin Collection – Thank youfor your donations for the penguins at the Detroit Zoo —keep sending them through 2/10! We will count up what we have this week.
Science: We found out that water has no shape, and that liquids take the shape of its container. This week we will make guesses and experiment with items that sink and float in water!

-Thu. Mar. 2 -Dr. Skoney, dentist, will visit the kindergarteners for lesson on dental health.
