EDUCATION:B.S. in Engineering

LeTourneau University, Longview, TX

Graduation Date:

GPA:

PROFILE:Engineering Intern: Company, City, State (date)

  • Worked in Research and Development department evaluating and troubleshooting a prototype design of a power controlling board for a communications system analyzer (R-8000). The design implemented a microcontroller and battery management ICs.
  • Interfaced prototype board with test equipment unit via I2C communication and writing embedded system code.
  • Ran design verification test and documented results of the R-8000.
  • Developed skills in real-world approaches to design.

Project Experience:

  • Design: Designed a datalink for a Relative Positioning System while serving on a seven person team. Used low power radio transceivers that modulate digital data using GFSK modulation on the 70cm amateur band. Also gained systems integration experience while integrating a radio modem, GPS, and a microcontroller. Systems were successfully integrated.
  • Hardware Design: Designed and built 15 V Power Supply, Signal Generator, and 7.5 W Power Amplifier. Also built and implemented a PID controller using a tachometer sensor in a constant velocity vehicle.
  • Leadership: Provided team leadership and organization to a three person team in designing and building a superheterodyne AM receiver. Project restricted to the use of analog components.
  • Digital Electronics: Team Lead of a five person team which designed and built a functioning elevator model. Utilized a CPLD to control the elevator with a four-button user interface. Programmed CPLD in VHDL to perform necessary logic functions. Built smaller breadboard projects ranging from adders, dividers, and timers.
  • Programming: Programmed in C and assembly language while integrating modules with a microcontroller in the Relative Positioning System and implementing M68HC12 microcontroller and digital proximity sensors. Also used LabView to program NXT-kit robots to perform a variety of functions.

Summary: Developed sound skills in understanding design, teamwork processes, and design implementation. Have refined problem solving skills, experienced the engineering process, wrote reports, and presented results.

Computer:LabVIEW, Matlab, MultiSim, Microsoft Office Suite, Project, Visio, WinAVR Development Tools, P-CAD, CVS Software Versioning, C++ and Java programming, Quartus II, Maple,Xilinx software (ISE), D-Bug 12 Environment, VectorWorks.

Test Equipment: Familiar with the use of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and multimeters to analyze circuits and signals.
