Let me tell you all a legend, about a scary beast,
A scaly, horrid monster, who rampaged in the North East.
Relax and try to listen, as today you’re going to learn,
About the brave Lord Lambton and the horrid Lambton Worm!
Enter brave Lord Lambton, a noble knight so daring,
Who was noted for his sword and shield and shiny armour wearing. (Feel armour)
Lord Lambton, he did hear one day, of a monster causing fright,
With a set of nasty, yellow fangs and scales as black as night! (Feel sequined glove)
A slithering, slimy, horrid brute, with every kind of germ,
The locals called this evil beast, the nasty Lambton Worm. (Feel snake)
The worm was munching cattle, and chicks, and goats, and sheep,
And when it fancied something more it ate children in their sleep! (Sheep noise on BM, feel wool)
The knight just had find the beast, so he followed it’s awful smell,
And he tracked it to its hiding place, down a dank and dingy well. (Smell egg)
The monster crawled out from the well, and surrounded Lord Lambton with ease,
It wrapped it’s scales around the knight and then began to squeeze! (Wrap snake around students)
But Lord Lambton, he was clever, his armour was covered in spikes and nails,
Which cut the monster’s putrid skin, and drew blood from all it’s scales! (Feel mushy peas)
The worm gave out a frightening cry and then a painful roar,
The knight stabbed it with his trusty sword and the beastie breathed no more! (Roar on BM, feel sword)
But Lambton had to be sure, that the wicked beast was dead,
So he covered it in lots of seeds and lots of crusty bread. (Smell/taste bread)
So if you need to get rid of a giant worm, then mark brave Lord Lambton’s words,
“Simply cover it with bread and seed – then feed it to the birds!” (Listen to Lambton Worm music)
