Coaches,

There was a typo on game #8. It should read "Seed #3 v Seed #2". The correct version will be posted to our website.

Coaches,

Pond Athletic Association has been chosen to host your division during the County Athletic Association tournament the week of 4/9-4/15. I will be serving as your tournament director. Please let me know if you have any questions. I can be reached via e-mail or on my cell phone at 314-614-4452. The best time to call is between 6:00pm and 9:00pm weekdays, or any time on the weekend. The bracket will be posted to the PAA website later this week. During the tournament, please make sure to post your final scores on the bracket that will be posted on the bulletin board behind the backstop of field #2. In addition, I would appreciate it if each manager would e-mail me the final score after each game as well. I will update the results nightly and repost to the website. I will be sending out the tournament rules later this week. The only real change from previous years is that all SLCAA games will have a one hour and forty minute time limit this season (1:45 in previous years). I hope you enjoy your tournament experience and let me know if I can be of any assistance thoughout the week.

Subject: Practice - Thursday 3.15.12 & Practice Game - Saturday 3.24.12

Right now the plan is to have practice tomorrow at the batting cages. I really want to try and get outside; however, so I am asking that everyone check their emails at 4:00 and I will make a call if we will be outside or inside at the normal batting cage location. Outside practice each Thursday, if there is not a league or tournament game, will be at the neighborhood field in Ann Porcelli's neighborhood. The directions are as follows from 270:

  1. Take left ramp onto I-270 S.
  2. 6.4 mi/Take exit #9/MO-100/Manchester Rd ontoManchester Rd West (MO-100 W).
  3. 0.9 mi/Turn left onto New Ballwin Rd.
  4. 0.2 mi/Turn left onto Twigwood Dr.
  5. 0.2 mi/Turn left onto Statewood Dr.
  6. 101 ft/Turn right onto Bitterwood Dr.
  1. Your destination on Bitterwood Dr is on the right.

Also, I wanted to let you know we are having a practice game against the MO Titans on Saturday 3/24/12 at 2 pm to 4 pm. This will be instead of our normal practice on Saturday. Please wear uniforms and for new players just wear a shirt with a number on the back. Any hat will due but if blue the better. Thanks!! Go Bobcats!!

Subject: Baseball - Week of 3.12.12 League Schedule

Hey Bobcats!! Okay, so we have practice this Thursday but due to weather it appears we will be in the cages in valley park (same place as always) from 6 pm to 7 pm. Now if the weather changes from today to Wednesday then we may change to an outdoor practice so please check your emails Wednesday night. Also, we are planning a practice game on 3/24/12 at 2 pm to 4 pm on our practice field (so instead of practice we will have a practice game). I will give you details as we get closer (i.e., on what the players should wear, etc.)

In addition, our league schedule is out. I have provided a link below and the schedule is also pasted below.

Let me know if you have any questions or conflicts. Thanks.

Subject: Batting Cages Tonight and Practice on Saturday

I just wanted to remind everyone that we have batting cages tonight from 6 pm to 7 p. I will be out tonight for cages but Mike will be there. There is also outdoor practice on Saturday from 2 pm to 4 pm. In fact, please from here on out plan on every Saturday practice from 2pm to 4 pm (unless we are in a tournament). Saturday practices are at Fee Fee and Mckelvey.

Also, since daylight savings time is this weekend so we will stop having batting cages on Thursday and start having Thursday outdoor practice from 6:15 pm to dark (again...unless there is a tournament or league games scheduled). Practice location for Thursdays will be sent out this weekend. In addition, we should know our league schedule this Saturday. Thanks.

Subject: RE: St. Louis Bobcats 2012 - Omaha Hotels

Hey BobcatNation!!

I just wanted to pass on some information for the Omaha tournament about hotel accommodations. First of all I want you to know that the hotels are very limited. I have found two Quality Inn hotels that still have openings. We have reserved 10 rooms at each hotel. The 1st Quality Inn is less expensive and is higher rated but does not have double beds available. I am going to book a room at this Quality Inn (#1 below). Please feel free to either book a room at one of the hotels below or to find one of our own but whichever you do please do it in the next day or so....hotels rooms are going fast.

Also, I do not know what times we will be playing exactly but have been told that all teams in the tournament would be playing on Thursday during the day. I have asked that we do not play until the afternoon and the Tournament Coordinator said he would try and accommodates us but at this point I have no guarantee. All games end at 4 pm I have been told so people can go to the College WS at night.

The information on the two Quality Inn hotels are as follows:

1) Quality Inn $120

11515 Miracle Hills Dr

8.5 mi from field

hot breakfast

king/ sofa sleeper

outdoor pool

three stars/4of5 rating

Phone #: 402-496-7500

2) Quality Inn $155

2808 S72

6.4 mi from field

hot breakfast

pool side double rooms

Two stars/3.1of5 rating

Phone #: 402-397-7137

Hi all!! Well, here comes March and with that baseball, baseball and more baseball. I was looking at the weather this Saturday and it is suppose to be in the 50s and sunny so I think we will try and get outside for some baseball practice. I wanted to have an hour and half of practice if possible (depends on weather) this Saturday. Because of Caleb's last basketball game at 2:15 pm though we won't be able to start until 3:30pm and would go probably until 5:00 pm. The practice would be at Fee Fee and Mckelvey/Bennington just east of ParkwayNorthHigh school. Because of weather we have been delaying the start of practice but want to try and get something in this Saturday.

Also, below is the revised tournament schedule with the new Omaha tournament on it. This brings up another point...please let me know if any one has conflicts for any tournaments, games and scheduled practice as soon as you know. Unless you have told me we are counting on you being in attendance. As far as league schedule, I have a schedule meeting on March 10th and that night I will send the schedule out. This meeting is to set our away schedule...our home schedule is being revised due to some scheduling issues. We will get this to you as soon as set but for sure by March 10th.

Also, just as a reminder. Jerseys have been ordered for new players. Kris Piontek should be notifying of the price. We are also getting ready to order new hats for all players. Kris will have a sample of the new hat at batting cages. If any coaches or parents want a hat also they will need to notify Kris. For pants, socks and shoes everyone is on there own. Pants should be white down to the shoe with navy socks. Shoes should be either navy blue or black...not red or any other color....preferable navy blue.

One last thing, we have a new player on our team, Brandon Repp. Please welcome him and parents to the team. He will be playing league games with us and potential some tournaments. This puts us at final number of twelve players.

Thanks and see you at the batting cages on Thursday. Go Bobcats!!

Hey Bobcats!!

I just wanted to let you know that I think the kids are doing great in the batting cages...looking really sharp. We are going to be a good hitting team. It appears from all the responses I have received that we are a go for the Battle of Omaha tournament (with only one known player not able to make the tournament). Now before I register us I wanted to just share a few things with you.

1) the tournament is from June 14th to June 17th which is a Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Sunday being a rain day. I have asked that they do not play us on June 14th until after twelve noon so we have time to get down there (for those that would not be able to leave Wednesday night) but with that said it may cause us to play back to back game that afternoon. If everyone can be down there by 7am in the morning on June 14th then we have no problem. They try and have all the games done by 4 pm so the teams can go watch the College WS games, if they so desire.

2) The cost is $750 and would replace our June 8th to 10th tournament at Chestefield for $425. Therefore, we would need each parent to pay $30 to cover the higher fee. This is not all that bad because we get 10 College WS general admission tickets. College WS tournament general admission tickets for extras are only $8, if you need any more.

Please let me know before the weekend is out if this causes anyone issues. I have been told as of now that only one player would not be able to make it. I am going to register us on Sunday afternoon. Thanks for all the support you give the kids and the coaches. Go Bobcats!!

Great meeting Saturday!! I wanted also to attach the agenda and budget/tournament schedules from the meeting we had Saturday. Also, don't forget to check the Bobcat website that Ann Porcelli has put together for us at Ballcharts.com/stlbobcats.

In the meeting we talked about possible going to Omaha and playing in the "Battle of Omaha" baseball youth tournament that is played at the site and during the College World Series. This is a tournament that I have always wanted to go to and play in and to see the College WS at the same time. I thought that since we are not going to Cooperstown that this would be a more than adequate tournament replacement but not as expensive or time consuming but just as much fun. I wanted to get everyone's feedback on it. If we decided to go to this tournament then we would not play in the Chesterfield tournament on June 8th to 10th but instead go to Omaha to play. The Battle of Omaha tournament is from June 21st to June 24th. The tournament fee is $750 of which the Chesterfield tournament fee of $425 would be applied to.

The website for the Battle of Omaha tournament is as follow if you want to find out more information. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Thanks.

Subject:St. Louis Bobcats 2012 - Bat Information

Hey Everyone,

I have been sick so sorry for not getting this out yesterday. The bat rules are as follow below:

2012 New Baseball Bat Rules /
Beginning in January 2012, the following new baseball bat rules will take effect:
  • In 2012, High School rules will mandate that all players use a -3 BBCOR bat. A BBCOR bat more simulates a wood bat. In 2012, CBSA will also adopt this rule and all High School leagues will require a BBCOR bat.
  • In 2012, tournament rules will mandate that all youth league bats have a 1.15 Bat Performance Rating (BPF). A “legal” bat will have a 1.15 BPF stamp on it. A 1.15 BPF bat will have reduced rebound as a ball leaves the bat. In 2012, CBSA will also adopt this rule and all youth bats (8U thru 14U) must have the 1.15 BPF stamp.
  • You can hit the following link for more details on the 1.15 BPF stamp bats: 2012 BAT RULES.pdf
  • For 2012, CBSA will still maintain our current bat ratio rules:
  • 11U/ 12U -9.5 (with 1.15 BPF stamp)
  • 13U/ 14U -5.5 (with 1.15 BPF stamp)
  • High School -3.0 (BBCOR bat)
  • For 2012, the CBSA 14U Gold Select will continue to be a wood bat league.

See attachment also. You can find this at the Chesterfield Athletic Association website at under Baseball/Coaches corner or you can go to the USSA.com website

Thanks.

I need to change the time for our parent’s meeting this Saturday from 4 pm to 6:00 pm. Same place. Let me know if this is a problem for anyone. The last half an hour will be at talk with the boys. I am thinking that I may schedule at least one or two “chalk talks” also with the boys over the next few weeks. I will let you know…they would be on Saturday. We will try and make them short…an hour to an hour and a half and make if fun for the kids. See you on Thursday and batting cages!! Go Bobcats!!
