Teacher will create an anchor chart to provide a reminder of the difference between sentences and fragments.
Students will complete a Birthday sentence sort in which they separate the complete sentences from the fragments. / Welcome to Farm School:

Teacher will create an anchor chart to remind students of the 4 types of sentences and the punctuation they use.
Students will read various sentences and sort them based on the punctuation they require. / Remembering the Family Farm:

Read the author’s biography, book summary, and essential question: What does it mean to be a friend?

Students will add detail to their writing and create final drafts. / Students will complete an assessment in which they identify complete sentences and fragments, subjects and predicates, add correct punctuation to sentences, and create their own declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences. / Continue introducing Charlotte’s Web by E.B. Introduce Section 1 Vocabulary words: chapter, control, determined, expression, injustice, property
Introduce Section 1 Literary Element: Setting
