DIRECTED LESSON

Get Set

Review kinds of line and shapes as covered in previous lessons.

Focus

View the Lichtenstein still life image. What is the focus of the painting? What lines are used? What shapes? What colors do you see? Explain to students that red,

yellow, and blue are the primary colors. Why did Lichtenstein choose these colors for his picture? What is a still life?

Develop

  1. Students will look at real objects and discuss how to arrange them to make a still life. Discuss the basic shapes of the items.
  2. Students will cut shapes and glue them to create a collage still life. Review how to use scissors to cut a shape.

Evaluation

Ask students to name the shapes they see in their artwork. Have students identify the primary colors in the work. Which primary color is their favorite?

Summary

The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. We can make a collage by cutting and pasting.
