Lesson 19 Bible Notes

  1. Peter and John healed a lame man through the power of Jesus and in his name.
  2. Peter and John healed and preached in the name of Jesus. As a result, they were called in for questioning by Jewish leaders. This group of leaders was the Sanhedrin.
  3. Peter spoke boldly when questioned. He announced that the Jewish leaders rejected Jesus, but that God had raised Him to life.
  4. Peter announced to the Jewish leaders that Jesus is the cornerstone.
  5. Jesus said that there are two gates a person can enter. A wide gate and a narrow gate represent choices that people make about their relationship with God.
  6. The narrow gate represents the choice to follow Jesus and live for Him. Living on the road it opens to can be hard at times, but leads to eternal life.
  7. There is no salvation in anyone other than Jesus. No other religion or god can save people from the consequences of sin.
  8. Jesus is the mediator between God and people. He can be this because He is both true God and true man.
  9. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross paid the price for sin.
  10. Jesus is the only one who could have atoned for the sins of people through His death on the cross.
  11. According to John 14:16, Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
  12. Jesus talks about two gates that people could enter and two paths they can take. Why can it be hard sometimes to not live selfishly and follow Jesus instead?
  13. Many people deny that Christ alone is the only way to salvation. What would you tell someone who believes that there are other ways to be saved?
  14. Use the words Faith, Grace, Christ, and Salvation in a sentence.
