Lesson 19 Bible Notes
- Peter and John healed a lame man through the power of Jesus and in his name.
- Peter and John healed and preached in the name of Jesus. As a result, they were called in for questioning by Jewish leaders. This group of leaders was the Sanhedrin.
- Peter spoke boldly when questioned. He announced that the Jewish leaders rejected Jesus, but that God had raised Him to life.
- Peter announced to the Jewish leaders that Jesus is the cornerstone.
- Jesus said that there are two gates a person can enter. A wide gate and a narrow gate represent choices that people make about their relationship with God.
- The narrow gate represents the choice to follow Jesus and live for Him. Living on the road it opens to can be hard at times, but leads to eternal life.
- There is no salvation in anyone other than Jesus. No other religion or god can save people from the consequences of sin.
- Jesus is the mediator between God and people. He can be this because He is both true God and true man.
- Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross paid the price for sin.
- Jesus is the only one who could have atoned for the sins of people through His death on the cross.
- According to John 14:16, Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
- Jesus talks about two gates that people could enter and two paths they can take. Why can it be hard sometimes to not live selfishly and follow Jesus instead?
- Many people deny that Christ alone is the only way to salvation. What would you tell someone who believes that there are other ways to be saved?
- Use the words Faith, Grace, Christ, and Salvation in a sentence.
