Lesson 14 Practice Directions

Restoration Architecture is offering in-house computer training courses. In this project, you create a memo that

uses a table to list the names of instructors teaching the courses.

DIRECTIONS

1. Start Word, create a new document, and savethe document as W14Practice_xx in the locationwhere your teacher instructs you to store the filesfor this lesson.

2. Display the rulers and nonprinting characters.

3. On the PAGE LAYOUT tab, set paragraph spacingBeforeto 24 points and paragraph spacing After

to36 points.

4. Type MEMO, and press ENTER.

5. On the HOME tab, in the Styles group, click the NoSpacing style.

6. On the horizontal ruler, set a left tab stop at 0.75".

7. Type To:, press TAB, and type All Employees.

Press ENTER.

8. Type From:, press TAB, and type your own name.Press ENTER.

9. Type Date:, press TAB, and type or insert today’sdate. Press ENTER.

10. Type Subject:, press TAB, and type TrainingCourses. Press ENTERtwice.

11. Apply the Normal style and type the following: Inresponse to many requests, here are the namesof the instructors who will be teaching thecourses next week.

12. Press ENTER.

13. Click INSERT Table .

14. Move the mouse pointer across the table grid toselect two columns and two rows, and then click inthe lower right selected cell to insert the table.

15. Click in the top left cell and type Course Name.Press TAB and type Instructor Name.

16. Press TAB and type Word for Beginners. Press TAB and type Marilyn Pak.

17. Press TAB and type Advanced Excel. Press

and type Ben Thompson.

18. Click TABLE TOOLS LAYOUT Insert Above .

19. In the new row, click in the cell on the left and typeIntroduction to the Internet. Press TAB and typeSuni Patel.

20. On the TABLE TOOLS DESIGN tab, in the TableStyles group, click the More button .

21. In the Table Styles gallery, click the style on theleft end of the second to last row—List Table 6Colorful.

22. Click the table move handle to select the

entire table.

23. Click HOME Font Size drop-down arrow > 12 toincrease the font size.

24. Check and correct the spelling and grammar in thedocument, and then save the changes.

25. With your teacher’s permission, print the

document. It should look similar to Figure 14-1 onthe next page.

26. Close the document, saving changes, and exitWord.
