Guidelines for group leaders
Before your visit
- Ranger led visits must be booked in advance.
- A pre-visit is essential to familiarise yourself with the park and complete your own risk assessments. If you require guidance on educational activities or suitable areas of the park to use please contact the park office.
- Risk assessments are available to view by contacting the park office.
- Ranger led visits are based on a ratio of 15 children per ranger. Groups may need to be divided to complete activities at different times throughout the day.
- The group leader must ensure the correct supervision ratios are maintained: under 5 years 1:6, under 8 years 1:8 and 8- 18years 1:12
- This is an open country site, for self tutored visits at least one leader must hold the Outdoor Leader award. For details visit
- For self led beach studies, please remember to check tide times. Tide predictions for Lepe can be accessed from - select Easy Tide and look up Stansore Point.
- Please ensure you group brings appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear for all weathers. Additional supplies of water and sun cream are advised.
- You can book our classroom for a whole day (£35) or half a day (£20) as part of you visit. The classroom can be used for follow up sessions, a place for lunch or for wet weather activities.
- Tarpaulins can be borrowed for groups to sit on for lunch. Please ask prior to your visit if you would like to use these.
- Ice creams can be bought from the beach café. To check opening times call 02380 892991.
During you visit
- Parking tickets must be bought on arrival from the pay and display machines. To avoid delay please ensure you have change. There is no parking charge for ranger led activities, a parking permit will be issued on arrival.
- The public toilets are open every day and are situated by park office. We recommend they are used in small groups.
- On arrival, please report to the park office to meet your ranger and to collect any pre-booked equipment.
- Discipline, conduct and pastoral care of educational groups will be the responsibility of the group leader. It is within the discretion of LepeCountryPark staff to curtail the visit should poor behaviour prove hazardous to the individual, group or other site users.
- Please ensure you have a nominated first aider for your visit.
- In case of an emergency, please inform park staff who can provide First Aid assistance and advice.
- The group leader is responsible for any materials (equipment, resources, activity packs etc) loaned by the park. Any missing or broken items will be charged for.
After your visit
- Please complete an evaluation form after your visit.
