Instructor of Conversational English for Businesspersons Specializing in Oral and Written English for the Scientific Community

Summary of Services:

I am able to provide generalized english intruction for business persons in the biotechnology industry. Improvement of grammar, vocabulary and coherence of oral communication are the focus of my curriculum. I can also provide editorial guidance on research manuscripts for publication in English language journals, and offer the same assistance for oral and poster presentation of research findings (using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications). Additionally I offer the ability to cogently discuss the aims, techniques and results of research projects in a variety of biological science disciplines, as well as to review research protocols and informed consent documents for clinical trials.

Experience and Qualifications:

  1. Six years experience as an educator of biological sciences at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA, where I was responsible for teaching basic Biology to undergraduate students. Further, I taught practical Micriobiology to second year medical students at Louisiana State University Medical Center. I also provided ESL (English as a Second Language) training to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and instructed them in in oral and written communication of research findings.
  1. Native english speaker with Master’s of Science degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA – 1998. My thesis discussed post-translational modifications of the mdm-2 oncoprotein as they affected its negative regulation of the p-53 tumor suppressor protein.
  1. Published in highly referenced English language research journals including The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (USA), Molecular Biology of the Cell and The Journal of Biological Chemistry. Contributed to laboratory & literature research, and preparation of manuscripts for publication. Contributed to preparation of successful grant applications to the National Institutes of Health (USA).
  1. Seven years experience as a Research Technician / Laboratory Manager, with extensive experience in microbiology molecular & cell biology,
  1. Two years experience as a Clinical Research Associate, with knowledge and understanding of guidelines from International Council on Harmonization, The National Institutes of Health and the United States Food and Drug Administration. Experienced with management of data and regulatory compliance of clinical research trials sponsored by the Children’s Oncology Group, which required working closely with the Institutional Review Board at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA.
