Leo Burnett brings Indie Rock Band Rudely Interrupted to Spikes Asia Afterparty in Singapore

Stars of Cannes Lion Grand Prix for Good-winning campaign “See the Person”

(Singapore: 6 September 2011) Leo Burnett & Arc Asia Pacific is bringing one of Australia’s most celebrated indie rock bands, Rudely Interrupted to Singapore for a performance at the Spikes Asia Awards Afterparty at IndoChine Empress Place on 20th September. The event is the closing party of Spikes Asia Advertising Festival -the leading advertising festival in Asia Pacific- which takes place from 18th to 20th September in Singapore.

The band, which has five out of six members living with disabilities, is also the star of the award-winning campaign “See the Person” developed for Scope, one of the largest providers of services to people with a disability in Victoria. The Leo Burnett Melbourne-developed campaign was recently recognized with the prestigious Grand Prix for Good award at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2011. Bringing the band’s performance to life will be an interactive digital projection on the façade of the Asian Civilisation Museum developed by Leo Burnett Group Singapore in partnership with Aims Integrated Marketing Agency.

One of Australia’s most unique rock bands,Rudely Interrupted is neither a novelty act nor a cover band but rather an inspiring and talented group of musicians that pump out uplifting pitch perfect indie-pop described by The Village Voice, “… as the real deal a Melbourne group with a taut impassioned sound somewhere between the Killers and Wire.”

Rudely Interrupted tour the world and play on some of the coolest and most prestigious stages along their journey. They have starred in an AFI nominated critically acclaimed documentary film, released their debut record “Tragedy of the Commons” worldwide on iTunesand their latest music video ‘Close My Eyes’ (part of the ‘See the Person” campaign) picked up the prestigious Grand Prix for Good award at Cannes Lions 2011 forLeo Burnett and Scope.

Originally formed in 2006by Rohan Brooks, a professional musician who was also working as a music therapist/instructor at St John of God’s Chringa Day Service in Victoria, Australia, teaching the popular School of Rock class to people with disabilities, Rudely Interrupted first began to perform live in inner city Melbourne in 2007 and quickly went on to break stereotypes, receiving invitations to perform at mainstream music venues, international music and arts festivals at home in Australia and the USA, Canada and the UK.

In 2008 the band’s invitation to perform at the UN in New York, Canada and UK was captured on film by Ben and Susie Jones and Quail TV. In December 2009, the documentary "Rudely Interrupted" had its world premier on ABC1 TV Australia/NZ which went on to receive glowing reviews. The documentary continues to be screened around the world.

In 2009 the rock documentary was nominated for the prestigious AFI awards and has been screened all over the world at many festivals and network TV and the band continued touring and performing in schools and music venues across Australia.

In June 2010 Rudely Interrupted performed at the very prestigious Kennedy Centre in Washington DC as part of the 2010 International VSA Arts festival. The band also followed on to tour up the East Coast of Nth America New York, Brooklyn, Northampton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal including a live performance on Canada’s highest rating TV show Canada AM.
