In Attendance
Ellen Blacker – Health and Wellbeing Champion
To talk about Dementia Friendly Communities.
Ellen has been helping communities for over six years now and informed us that she is now hoping to help social isolation problems in the community.
A new initiative is to have Sunday lunch clubs, this is turning out to be a great success. There is 1 in Royal Wootton Bassett and 2 in Malmesbury, once these are set up with dedicated volunteer staff then she will be looking into starting more in other areas Cricklade possibly being one of them.
We agreed to discuss and help in any way we can as we feel this is a very good Community cause. We are looking into becoming classed as a Dementia Friendly Parish.
Ellen is always happy to hear from anyone who would like to help with these projects or simply just happy to give someone a lift, or indeed would like to attend.
Ellen also brought along a new emergency information box from the Lions Club. You complete the form inside the pot and keep it in the fridge, a sticker is placed on the front door and should emergency services need to attend then they will be aware that this sticker means all of the information they may need is in the fridge. These clever pots can be obtained from the lions club.
