LCC Proposed Communities Strategy – Deadline Reminder – PLEASE RESPOND!
Leicestershire County Council is in the process of developing a new Communities Strategy for 2014, which will outline the Council’s vision and approach for working in partnership with communities. There are only a few days left to complete the Communities Strategy consultation – the deadline is the 1st September
Stepping Stones - 29 August is deadline for the connecting people and wildlife grant
Don’t forget, 29 August is the deadline for applications for the Connecting People and Wildlife grant – which offers grants of up to £2,500 for larger community projects. For more information call 0116 305 7221/7264.
This is one of a programme of three grants of up to £2500 available for community groups, landowners and farmers within the Stepping Stones area who would like to improve their environment through schemes such as tree planting, hedge planting and the development of nature areas.
The other two grants are:
- Community Green Spaces - small grants of up to £500, schools are eligible to apply
- Landscape and Wildlife - grants up to £2,500 from farmers and landowners

Are you 60 or over? Would you like to feel more confident on the road?
Take a Safer Driving with Age (SAGE) course to boost your confidence and remain a safe motorist. A friendly, approved instructor will guide you on local roads. There are no trick questions or unusual manoeuvres and its NOT a driving test.

Build up your experience
The Stepping Stones partnership, who aim to enhance green spaces, are currently offering NCFE certified courses in dry stone walling. Dry stone walling is a building method by which structures are built from stone without the use of mortar to bind them together. On this course an experienced dry stone waller teaches you all you need to know in this fascinating and important rural skill.
The course is ideal for anyone wanting to develop their construction and maintenance skills this could include conservation students, gardeners and landscapers.
Dates: 20 & 21 September 2014 (2 day course)
