2.MINUTES FROM 2014 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING/MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES
No matters arising from the 2014 minutes.
3.SOCIETY NEWS JUNE 2014-JUNE 2015
August 2014 – Jonathan Roberts refereed his first 1st team match Gateshead v South Wales Scorpions
Mark Craven was appointed as reserve touch judge to the Challenge Cup Final between Castleford and Leeds
Ryan Calder touch judged the Champion Schools Year 7 final at Wembley Stadium
Joe Jackson Trophy Match between West Leeds and Whinmoor held at Stanningley ARLFC, Ben Thaler was guest referee and the event raised £150 for the society. The game was won by West Leeds 54-6.
September 2014
Tom Grant referees the Academy Grand Final with Ryan Calder appointed touch judge to the same match
– Mark Craven and Jonathan Roberts appointed to Super League Play-off games and European Nations Cup games
October 2014
Steve Williams appointed as timekeeper to the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford between St Helens and Wigan
November 2014
Jonathan Roberts appointed to referee Academy Tour Match between Leeds Rhinos and Australia
December 2014
Tom Grant appointed to referee the 2nd Academy Test match between England and Australia at Leigh. Ryan Calder appointed as touch judge to the same game
RFL Fitness takes place at South Leeds, 9 Leeds officials invited to take the test
January 2015- RFL Gradings released. Tom Grant and Jonathan Roberts promoted to Grade 1 referee status. Leeds RLRS has 9 officials graded in the RFL structure
Feb 2015- Mark Craven and Jonathan Roberts appointed to touch judge in the World Club Series matches.
April 2015- Jonathan Roberts awarded Yorkshire Referee of the Year at the Yorkshire Referee’s Dinner at Cedar Court Hotel
Tom Grant wins Leeds RLRS Referee of the Year, Ryan Calder wins George Crisp Trophy for Leeds RLRS touch judge of the year and
Neil Pascall wins Bernard Robinson Trophy for Leeds RLRS member of the year at the same awards
May 2015 – 3 Leeds Officials (Tom Hudson, Jonathan Roberts and Mark Craven) appointed to touch judge at Magic Weekend at Newcastle
June 2015 – Neil Pascall awarded the title of Pennine League Referee of the Year
4. PRESIDENT’S /DEVELOPMENT OFFICER’S REPORT
Paul Chippindale feels the society have moved forward and is pleased to see the society move forward.
Paul Chippindale feels meeting are poorly attended and is open for new meeting dates/venues
Reiterates that Wednesday night training is still very well attended by Leeds referees especially.
5. TREASURER’S REPORT
No Joe Jackson game this year as committee as decided to make it a biennial event.
The society has applied for a grant with the hope of making funds available for kit, communication system and training aids.
We are waiting to hear back from Martyn Flynn on the progress of the grant
Looking into a venue for a Christmas party/meal, any suggestions please let me know. Central venue preferable
6.ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Paul Chippindale and Paul Ward standing for society presidency
Paul Chippindale elected as president by 13 votes to 4.
Tom Pilling and Paul Ward elected to management committee unopposed, as there were 2 vacancies on the management committee
After the election of officers, the management committee for the next year is
President/Development Officer – Paul Chippindale
Secretary-Neil Pascall
Treasurer- Mark Craven
Management Committee Members- Jonathan Roberts, Tom Grant, Tom Pilling, Steve Williams, Tom Hudson and Paul Ward
7.ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Steve Williams proposes a change to meeting dates and possible merging of meetings with other societies in order to aid more useful meetings and generate more people attending meeting.
The meeting was brought to a close at 8.15pm
The next society meeting will be at the Phoenix Bar, South Leeds Stadium on Monday 27th July at 7.30pm
