Lee Johannsen Memorial Scholarship

For current college students

The Lee Johannsen Estate established a scholarship for Jones County students. The goal of the scholarship is to encourage local students to continue their education at a college, university or technical school. Mr. Johannsen was a long time resident of Jones County living most of his life on a ranch northwest of Okaton and was a faithful member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church. He passed away February 12, 2000.

The Johannsen scholarship for current college students is a $4,000, $2,000 fall semester & $2,000 spring semester award. This scholarship is available to a Jones County High School graduate who will be enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university as a junior or senior during the 2018-2019 school year. Scholarship selection will consist of application evaluation.

·  A copy of a current college transcript, showing completed courses, cumulative credits and cumulative GPA should accompany the application.

The student selected as the Johannsen college scholar will:

·  maintain their GPA, staying within the academic ‘good standing’ as stated in their current college catalog

·  send a copy of their college class schedule and transcript at the end of fall semester to the high school office to verify full-time enrollment and GPA
