Leadership Education Training Brigade & Battalion Staffs 1st Semester Syllabus
Course: JROTC Staff, Leadership Theory and application, Staff Responsibilities/Functions, Plan & Execute annual scheduled events, foresee the vision of the BCHS JROTC program for the future coming years.
Academic Term: Fall 2016-2017 Period 3

Grade Level: 10-12
Course Description: The Brigade staff will plan and execute all JROTC annual events, react and execute other events as presented by the instructors and or our designated school officials. All staff members will be knowledgeable of their respective staff responsibilities and diligently fulfill those duties to the utmost of their ability. All staff members will be given the task of writing in their journals on a daily basis so they can capture and document daily accomplishments, thus providing vital staff information to all of their counterparts. All staff members will perform their assigned duties as outlined in this syllabus and through input provided in their respective continuity file. Also, as a final grade of each semester each staff member will revise and continue to improve their continuity files to capture their updates. All tasks assigned by the Brigade Commander and instructors will count towards each cadets grade for the respective marking period.
Textbooks: Cadet Command Regulation 145-8-3 JPA accreditation, LET Manuals, instructor provided input, and other related materials provided for each staffs mission accomplishment.
Grading:
Each cadet will be graded by the following: Quizzes,wearing the proper uniform,attitude/behavior,assigned projects,physical training (PT), individual journals/ continuity files, JPA (Formal Inspection) results, essays,and any assigned tasks (either individual staff responsibilities and or instructor tasks provided to that staff member).
- Weekly Staff Tasking’s: (Given weekly-100 points) Cadets will be graded in their specific staff area of responsibility by their specific instructor.
- Uniform Inspections: (100 points) Cadets will be graded for the cleanliness and accuracy of their uniform. Additionally, curriculum knowledge will be assessed as part of your grade. Regarding the wear of uniforms, the Brigade/Battalion staffsmust set the example.
- Cadet Challenge (PT):300 point scale for Participation and PT Uniform (shorts and a t-shirt). Cadet Challenge will be done twice a year
- Portfolio/ Journal/ Continuity File Upkeep: Graded each 9 week marking period. There are specific documents, events, or task that must be accomplished on a timeline either mentioned throughout this document or given verbally by the army instructors (Grading scale is 300 points).
- Essay: All students are required to write an essay. The essay is due NLT 06 December. The topic is: TBA
The essay is worth 200 points. Each day the essay is not turned in on time a deduction of one letter grade will be taken away from their essay’s final grade.
Student Responsibility: It is your responsibility to complete all staff assignments as well as projects. Your grade will reflect your initiative and effort in task completion.
The Brigade Staff was selected based on their performance over the previous year. They are the best of the best among all JROTC cadets. Therefore, they will be expected to serve as role models on and off campus.
You will receive a Zero if an assignment is late. It is also your responsibility to make-up missed assignments and uniform inspections.Cadets will be expected to wear their uniform with pride and a sharpness that sets the example for the rest of the Brigade. You must also follow the cadet regulation on uniform wear. You are expected to read all assigned material and take notes during class when the instructors and or any other staff members are providing input or information that is of necessity.
