Developed in response to feedback, this package provides differentiated levels of support and development for headteachers, principals, interim headteachers and heads of school.

A full induction package is available for those new to headship or new to headship in Milton Keynes. In addition, more experienced headteachers can access a mentor and the confidential networking group, Talking Heads.

New headteacher package (for headteachers/ principals, interim and heads of school – appointed to an MK school within the previous 12 months). This package includes:

  • Induction day
  • Access to the relevant training sessions on the Senior Leaders and Aspiring Leaders development programme (maximum of 6)
  • Access to the Governor Training and Development Package
  • A mentor for your first academic year
  • Access to a confidential externally facilitated Talking Heads Group (five half days)

What you can expect

We will:

ensure that courses have clear aims and objectives

monitor the quality of all development opportunities provided

listen to feedback about training

ensure that the information provided is current and accurate

provide training that is accessible to all those involved in leadership

monitor the effectiveness of the mentoring arrangement

What we expect from you

You will:

provide feedback on the training attended

evaluate the outcomes resulting from attending the training

agree to the terms of the mentoring scheme

provide feedback on the mentoring outcomes

About us

The service is managed and organised by a team of experienced and skilled staff, with a high level of expertise in runningleadership training and development events. All of our advisors/trainers have worked within education, some as headteachers, for many years.

Training providers external to Milton Keynes Council are all subject to a procurement process to ensure the quality of training and best value. A facilitator, who has the specialist skills and knowledge of the subject matter, leads all training sessions.

Cost

This service will commence in September 2018 for the academic year 2018-2019.

Please note that the programme for Sept 2018 – July 2019 will not be published until June 2018.

As this provision works best over the academic year, headteachers and principals are asked to indicate their interest in any of the provision above during the summer term 2018.

Payment details

Packages will be invoiced at the beginning of the academic year. Mentoring and Talking Heads will be invoiced accordingly.

Cancellation

Courses cancelled within 2 days of a course will not be eligible for a refund. Courses cancelled 3 or more days in advance of a course will receive a 100% refund less a cancellation administration charge of £50. If a bespoke training session is cancelled within 10 days of the agreed date there will be no refund.

Length of agreement

One year (September 2018 – July 2019)
