Lead Coordinator
REPORTS TO:
Directly to Assistant Director, Operations. Under general supervision of the Director of Learning Centers and Assistant Director, Programs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises the daily operation of a Learning Center site, organizing and coordinating the efforts of the staff team at that site.Works in close collaboration with the Director of Learning Centers and Assistant Directors to choose direction and scope of center programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversees implementation of the curriculum and activities at the Learning Center site.
2. Supervises and trains Educational Coordinators in their capacity as tutors and program supervisors.
3. Meets with Assistant Director, Operations on a regular basis for planning and problem solving.
4. Works to ensure that Education Coordinators are working towards goals consistent with NHA Mission and Learning Center approach.
5. Ensures that the Learning Center functions smoothly and reliably, taking a lead role in the positive behavioral development of troubled students by coordinating efforts of parents, school personnel, and center staff.
6. Oversees the record-keeping of attendance, activities, and participation. Maintains updated files for center participants.
7. Checks and signs timecards for Education Coordinators ensuring accuracy and submits to the Assistant Director, Operations in a timely manner to the Main Office.
8. Ensures compliance with NHA Evaluation policies and procedures.
9. Identifies and monitors maintenance related issues specific to the center's computer network and the facility's infrastructure, and communicates areas that need to be addressed to the Assistant Director, Programs.
10. Takes initiative to actively recruit students to Learning Centers and Center programs.
RELATED DUTIES AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ranging from implementing programs, supervising staff, and overseeing the activities of students to ordering supplies, and maintaining an inventory of education related activities.
2. Knowledge of, familiarity with, and/or demonstrated interest in education as a medium for personal and societal advancement.
3. Ability to produce reports and prepare documents for NHA management and for distribution to parents.
4. Ability to coordinate with outside trainers in the delivery of programs for the students.
5. Ensures that students participate in the Literacy Program and quarterly assessments.
REQIDRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Strong people management skills.
2. Basic knowledge of computers and peripheral equipment.
3. At least 2 years of experience with basic software, i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and graphics.
4. Experience in and interest in working with diverse populations of children and adults in a learning environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Education or related discipline.
2. Computer proficiency is required.
3. A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience is desirable.
4. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
SPECIAL REQIDREMENTS:
- Must be bondable.
2. Possession of a valid Connecticut motor vehicle operator's license is preferred.
