LCDCCMinutes – E-Board Meeting – May 11, 2009

1. Meeting called to order @ 5:30 pm

Present: Dianne Hoffmann, Norm Sterzenbach, Bret Nilles, Joe Stutler, D.J. Arnold, Bob King, Liz Belden, Kay Fisk, Bob King, Kay Hale, Harvey Ross, Mike Wyrick.

Excused: Ebony Luensman, Lynda Waddington.

2. Committee Reports

Finance

Pancake Breakfast – Profitable event.

Ice Cream Social – June 14. Check needed to reserve the facility. Motion to approve a budget of up to $500 for this party-building event. M/S/Pass.

T-Shirt Info – Proposal will be prepared for the May Central Committee meeting.

Nominations

Review Last Central Committee Meeting –Breakout groups by State House district at last Central Committee meeting was successful.

Next Central Committee Meeting – seating break out by house district.

Technology

Review Last Central Committee Meeting – Overview of website was useful.

Future Central Committee Meeting – Potential overviews of other websites and electronic media that is useful for the Party.

Other – Motion to pre-pay for the domain name for a period of 5 years. M/S/Pass.

Elections

Liz Belden sent a list of duties of Election Committee members and Precinct Captains to members of her committee.

Publicity

KayFisk would like anything they need publicized to contact her at .

Veterans Caucus

Joe Stutler announced the next State Veterans Caucus meeting will be at the Party Headquarters in Des Moines on May 30.

Stonewall Democrats

Linn Stonewalls will participate in the Corridor Pride Fest in Iowa City on June 20.

Motion to approve $50 booth fee for Pride Fest – M/S/Pass.

Candidate Recruitment

Mike Wyrick – Committee plans to meet soon to discuss upcoming local elections.

Other

Motion to create a Party-Building line item with a budget of $1000 for this year. M/S/Pass.

Motion to spend up to $200 for the purchase of Logo Coffee Mugs. M/S/Pass.

3. Program for next Central Committee Meeting:

Guest Speaker – Carrie LeSeur.

Discussion on providing access to remote audio of LCDCC meetings. Referred to Technology Committee for research.

Parades – Need several people to assemble the float, Friday May 15.
Houbie Days Parade – May 16.
Freedom Fest Parade – June 27

Service Projects – Habitat for Humanity Big Build June 13 – We’re providing lunch for approximately 250-300 people. M/S/Pass.

4. Officer Reports

2nd Vice Chair – we will have 21 representatives from Linn County for 2nd District Central Committee. Elections will be held at our May meeting.

6. New Business.

2nd District Central Committee meeting will be held May 17 at 1 pm in Riverside.

Liz Beldon discussed Linn County Connects, an organization spun off from the Obama organization. Various local projects to benefit the local community are their focus, including a local neighborhood Victory Garden.
