June 9, 2016 MEETING

Meeting called to order at Chalk River Library @ 7:05 p.m.

BUSINESS ARISING

Book Tree Update:

Cutting trees next week for this project. According to Sheri the book tree will be constructed at Anne Crossan Parkas part of a natural improvement to that area.

To contact John Hoyle to inform him about the township's plan. Anne Giardini to inquire about the reasoning behind the change in location.

Book Nook:

In Chalk River the idea is to put it near the Rink Shack. In Laurentian Hills Scott will see about partnering with a business like Freddie's and put it inside the store. Scott to approach the owner.

Branch Librarian Annual Review:

Megan Durant and Jeannie Tilson to prepare review before Board Meeting in September.

Attendance Policy:

Board Members must let Scott know if they can't attend the Board Meeting that month.

NEW BUSINESS

Evaluation of Chalk River Librarian:

Candace's evaluation is locked away in a file in the township office. Chalk River volunteers were poled for feedback for it.

Scott in cleaning his office has transferred confidential personnel files to Sheri for lockup.

Summer Student(s)

The Canada and Ontario grants have both been approved this year and will be used for summer student hires. Audrey Geurout and high school student Debbie Lee Bainbridge have been hired for the summer; one for eachlibrary. They will be working a 28 hours per week.

Risk Assessment Solutions - Chalk River /Point Alexander Libraries

Refer to Risk Assessment Summary Report included with May 2016 Reports.

Structural risks are the responsibility of the town while the addition to the Point Alexander library falls under the jurisdiction of the Library.

Scott to check if the town has any new code requirements for the exit sign at Chalk River.

Canada 150 Grant

Scott looking into money available for events planning. Town may have to match library request.

REPORTS

Financial Report :Deferred to next meeting.

Point Alexander's Librarian's Report

Needed better advertising near the highway for the book sale.Looking at working with the Friends of the Library to sponsor a bigger event in September which would bring more people out.

Fen poor response for story time. Either Fen closed or no children in attendance that were of age for the activity.

The computer service Scott offered was used by Annabelle Harvey and 3 others have asked to participate.

Senior Appreciation Day planned with tea and munchies.

Theme for summer reading program entitled "Wild".

SOLS Meeting held at Point Alexander Library

Chalk River’s Librarian’s Report

May marked Candace's one year anniversary as the Chalk River Librarian.

Circulation numbers are up (see report)

A plan is in progress to expand the children's section

Cancelled Yard Sale this year as not much interest was shown, but book sale will go ahead.
