Does Treatment of Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion Disorder Lead to Decreased Medication Use? PI: Laura Matrka, MD. Description: a prospective observational study investigating asthma medication use prior to and 6 months after diagnosis and treatment of Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion Disorder

Treatment of Vocal Cord Granulomas with KTP Laser vs. Traditional PPI Therapy PI: Laura Matrka, MD. Description: a prospective, randomized trial investigating differences in outcome and recurrence rates with early KTP laser treatment of vocal cord granulomas vs standard treatment with high-dose proton-pump inhibitor alone.

Clinical Outcomes of Polypoid Corditis Patients: the Relationship to Malignancy PI: Laura Matrka, MD. Description: a retrospective review of 400 patients with polypoid corditis that examines rates of dysplasia and malignancy, among other clinical factors.

A Comparison of Treatment Regimens in Botulinum Toxin Injections for Essential Voice Tremor and Spasmodic Dysphonia. PI: Laura Matrka, MD. Description: A retrospective review of dosing and timing of Botox injections used to treat essential tremor affecting the larynx as compared to those for spasmodic dysphonia.

Development of an Adult Laryngeal Papilloma Tissue Cell Line and Mouse Model. PI: Brad deSilva, MD. Description: Establishment of a tissue bank of papilloma specimens, with plan to expand to pediatric population if successful.

Voice outcomes following transcutaneous steroid injection for vocal fold nodules combined with voice therapy compared to voice therapy alone. PI: Brad deSilva, MD. Description: A prospective, randomized trial investigating whether injection of dexamethasone into the vocal cords at site of nodules leads to improved rates of resolution over voice therapy alone.

Barostim Hope for Heart Failure study. PI: Jean Starr, MD. Description: Monitoring cranial nerve deficits associated with the implantation of the Barostim device, a carotid sinus lead designed to stimulate carotid baroreceptors in heart failure patients.
