(DATELINE) – In an effort to help the more than 11,000 Texans currently waiting on lifesaving transplants [NAME OF INSTITUTION] is participating in the first-ever LifeGift Registry Challenge during April --- National Donate Life Month.
The hospital will compete with [NAMES OF COMPETING INSTUTIONS] to see which facility can generate the most registrations among their respective workforces.
“By nature of being in the healthcare field, hospital personnel are some of LifeGift’s greatest advocates,” said Sam Holtzman, president and CEO of LifeGift. “Their sphere of influence is great and they have the ability to drive their local communities to take action. The need for transplantable organs greatly outnumbers the availability and sadly, 18 people die each day in the United States due to organ failure.”
The hospital that generates the greatest percentage of registered donors from its workforce will be declared the winner.

The Donate Life Texas Registry is the official state database of those individuals who consent to being organ and tissue donors upon their deaths. The registry is a legally-binding contract and overrides any decision that an individual’s family might make. One can register to be a donor by visiting www.donatelifetexas.org, in-person or online via the Department of Public Safety when renewing or obtaining a driver’s license or online with the Department of Motor Vehicles when registering an automobile.
