Age UK Bolton
Age UK Bolton has become one of the area’s most significant, dynamic and highly regarded charities, and the leading voluntary sector organisation, working with and on behalf of Bolton’s over 50 populations. We work hard with all communities of older people – those who are active and independent and those who are frailer and more dependent – to meet their changing needs and aspirations.
Respite Care Volunteer
The Enhanced Respite Care Service is a brand new service from Age UK Bolton launched in partnership with Bolton GP Federation, Bolton Council and health care professionals. The service will be delivered at Wilfred Home in Farnworth, Bolton. The aim of this new service is to keep provide a series of engaging and mentally stimulating activities for older people, most of whom are living with dementia, during their respite stay at the facility.
As part of Age UK Bolton’s new Enhanced Respite Care Service, we are looking for friendly and compassionate people to work as Respite Care Volunteers. The role would involve chatting to the older people and encouraging them to get involved with activities. We would love to hear from people who have an interest in reminiscence work, arts and crafts or developing other social activities to enhance the respite experience. We are also looking for volunteers who would be happy to lead an activity with individuals or small groups of older people.
Applicant must have/be: - An understanding of and empathy with the issues affecting older people, particularly those who are living with Dementia. - Excellent verbal communication skills. - A caring and compassionate individual who can work with and alongside existing care staff. - Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. - Willing to undertake initial and ongoing training relating to the role including role specific Dementia Awareness training.

Bolton Advocacy Service - Rethink
Bolton Advocacy Service, Rethink Mental Illness: Information and Signposting Service. Leading the way to a better quality of life for everyone affected by severe mental illness. Our goal is a better life for everyone affected by mental illness.
We provide help, hope and support, advice and information, fight discrimination and campaign for better services. We also provide a unique opportunity for mutual support, respite, friendship and wellbeing activities for thousands of people with mental health problems and their carers. We work with the media and in schools to fight stigma and discrimination around mental illness. Our phone and email Advice Service provides expert advice to thousands of people each year.
Volunteer
We require volunteers to provide information and signposting, this will include identifying the appropriate service to meet the person’s needs and signposting to that service. Also identification of services which will address social isolation / inclusion, community support, volunteering opportunities, support relating to vulnerabilities and any local schemes which may benefit enquirers.
Volunteer Duties: Answering the office telephone and taking enquiries: referring in to the advocacy service where appropriate, signposting to other appropriate services in the area or arranging appointments to discuss options where necessary - meeting with clients by appointment in the reception area to discuss needs and provide information / signposting to local services - build and maintain a database / directory of services meeting different needs (such as social inclusion / physical activity /community mental health support / community physical disability support / classes etc.) - referring to advocacy services where necessary.
The Volunteer Co-ordinator, Service Manager or other team member will be there to supervise during the sessions and will provide support and guidance to the volunteers. Training and support will be provided to fulfil the duties of the role. Awareness training will be provided relating to the types of advocacy we can provide and when enquirers should be referred in to those services or to other local advocacy providers

We are a Registered Charity based at Birtenshaw College, Bolton.We have a wide range of quality resources including specialised resources available for low cost, improving the home learning environment and relieving financial hardship.We are open to families, Childcare Providers, Foster Carers, and Professionals in Voluntary Sector, Education, Health and Social Care.We link with CVS, Bolton Together and other agencies to improve outcomes for children, young people & families.
Stay Play & Learn Volunteer
We run a range of activities including seasonal / themed events and a fundraising programme. A range of volunteer opportunities are available.Supporting the delivery of 'play stay & learn' groups for parents and children under 5 years.This will include: assisting trained staff to support parents to play and learn with their children at a variety of planned play sessions. There will also be the opportunity to get involved in: setting up sessions/organising play equipment/cleaning play resources/admin.
Training opportunities will be available including Level 1 Safeguarding and Early Years Foundation Stage Workshops.
Good Companions
Good Companions Bolton is a self-help group for disabled people, which seeks to equip its members with skills and opportunities to enter the community.
Our aims are:*To give our families a 10-12 hour rest at a time from caring for us.*For us, the disabled, to go out,into and use the community.*To learn lifeskills, confident building and be an independent as we can be.
Allotment Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to support people with disabilities on their allotment. The role will require individuals to do digging, sweeping, chopping wood, DIY, digging over the muck heap, hosing down, planting and harvesting. End allotments, opposite Bolton Rugby Club, Avenue Street, Bolton BL1 3AW.From town the number 501 bus.
Animal Helper
We have a big allotment growing food, flowers and we have chickens, ducks, geese, fish and a cat. They are all very friendly. The ducks and geese love human company, in the day they have the run of the allotment and love to follow people around. They are very easy to look after and time goes so quickly when you are around them.
Volunteer Driver
Volunteer drivers are required to collect people with disabilities to & from home. In addition, volunteers, will help to take people with disabilities out into the community, for example, to the cinema, bowling etc. We need Friendly, welcoming volunteers with clean driving license.

Halliwell Befriending Service
Halliwell Befriending Service aims to provide a visiting, befriending and support service to housebound, isolated, disabled, lonely and mentally frail older people living in the Halliwell area. They also indirectly help their carers.
Catering Volunteer Leader
Halliwell Befriending Service luncheon are looking for a catering volunteer leader in the New Year, to help run our luncheon club fortnightly to be prepared to take the lead in organising meals, preparing the meals and organising other volunteers who help at the luncheon.
We are also looking for a volunteer shopper to purchase the sundries for our luncheon who will work with the catering leader.

Justicia
Justicia is a fair trade gift and craft shop, selling products mainly from developing countries. People of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds choose to be on our volunteer team for many different reasons.
Retail Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to help in the shop. Tasks include serving customers, pricing goods, and filling shelves. Some stockroom work is available, unpacking and cleaning, admin & computing. There are also opportunities to help at outside functions, such as stalls at church halls, markets.Duties range from checking on the shop display, to admin tasks in the stock room, preparing for outside events and Sale or Return boxes. All of our volunteers are important to us and we aim to create a warm friendly working environment where everyone’s strengths are appreciated.

Medical Detection Dogs Bolton
Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to detect the odour of human disease. It is at the forefront of the research into the fight against cancer and helping people with life-threatening diseases. Our Bio-Detection Dogs are trained to find the odour of diseases, such as cancer, in samples such as urine, breath and swabs. Our Medical Alert Assistance Dogs are trained to detect minute changes in an individual's personal odour triggered by their disease and alert them to an impending medical event. To save and enhance lives using our specially trained Dogs' extraordinary sense of smell.
Speaker
Medical Detection Dogs require a national network of speakers to help promote awareness of the charity, the work we do and the life changing difference our assistance alert dogs can make. As well as promoting the charity, speakers help raise much needed funds and encourage others to fundraise in various ways, for example by leaving a legacy in their will or organising a fundraising/sponsored event on our behalf.
Time – Flexible
Location: Speakers visit groups such as Lions, Rotary Clubs, Women’s Institutes, community groups, schools and businesses within their local community. It is your choice how far you wish to travel to talks.

Collection Box Coordinator & Leaflet Distributor
If you have very little spare time, but would still like to make a Big difference to our charity, you could place collection boxes with local businesses or/and become a leaflet distributor and distribute literature and put up posters that are local to you.
This role involves: Identifying potential collection box sites with local businesses such as vets, petrol stations, chemists, bakeries, newsagents, pubs, hairdressers, garden centres and pet shops • Collecting boxes when they are full, leaving new boxes, counting and banking the money for Medical Detection Dogs • Distributing literature and placing posters locally to you; your place of work, library, garden centre, coffee shops, schools, doctors, vets, surgeries • Identifying suitable locations, arranging permission with the owners and delivering supplies of leaflets and posters • Creating and updating lists of locations and send this regularly to head office
Regional Support Coordinator
Fundraising support groups are essential to Medical Detection Dogs. Medical Detection Dogs wish to establish a national network of fundraising support groups. If you have experience of leading, supporting and motivating people to engage in meaningful and purposeful activity, and are interested in starting or joining a Regional Support group, then this role is for you!
What does the role involve? • To coordinate regular meetings with the group to plan ways to fundraise and organise events, meetings can be face to face, skype, conference call. By participating at internal events, meetings you continue to encourage and inspire established volunteers • Help to source training, shadowing opportunities that has been identified in reviews • All activities and events attended, monies raised, volunteers who attended must be clearly recorded and information sent to Volunteer Coordinator on an agreed regular basis • Participate at local events. Coordinating and supporting other volunteers who attend events • Attend cheque presentations on behalf of the charity • Coordinate with the assistance of Volunteer Coordinator, volunteer inductions and volunteer training within your local community. • Give talks/presentations to outside organisations to raise awareness and raise the profile of our charity • Keep up to date with the charity’s news, information and developments
Fundraiser
Medical Detection Dogs is funded purely by voluntary contributions, without our fundraisers, we would not be able to continue to support people with life threatening health conditions. If you enjoy fundraising, organising events and engaging with the local community, why not become an active fundraiser? You will make a real difference to the work we do, you will have lots of fun, meet lots of new friends and contribute directly to a worthwhile cause It doesn’t matter how much time you give – some events are occasional and others require a greater commitment.

Paws for the Kids pick up pets for the women and children escaping domestic violence and need volunteers for looking after animals in their own home. Paws for Kids have policies and procedures for looking after the animals. Food is provided for the animals and vets bills are paid.
