Administrative Corner

Monty Arrossa, HR Director

Throughout the past couple of days I have tried to make sense of what happened in Newtown Connecticut. How could something like this happen? Why would something like this happen especially at this time of the year. It made me think about all the blessings in my life. I looked up the term blessing in the dictionary and found a number of definitions but I particularly liked one, “something promoting or contributing to happiness, well-being or prosperity.” One of my greatest blessings is the chance to work here at CSI. I read a quote that said “when it’s good, you can feel it when you walk in the door.” I get this feeling of prosperity or goodness every day I walk through the main doors. Why is that you ask? It’s because the people here, each and every one of you make the College of Southern Idaho the special place that it is.

As we embark on this holiday season I hope you will also count your blessings. I challenge you to do something that makes you happy. Each year I am particularly thankful for the break we are granted by the President between Christmas and New Year’s. I always try and do something that is just for me. One year I swam every day another year I tanned every day. This year I have decided to take on a different challenge. I have decided to host Christmas dinner at my house. Yes you heard it first; I am going to be in charge of everything from setting up to entertainment, to what we are eating for dinner. Notice I didn’t say cooking, as some of you know I am not a cook but I plan to figure it out! In my prior working life I would have never had the opportunity to plan such an undertaking because we only got Christmas Day off. I cannot wait to do this especially for both of my elderly grandmother’s. It is such a blessing to work for a place who truly values its employees.

So go home tonight and hug your kids, your spouse, your dog, your cat, or in my case your horse. Remember happiness is a choice, so choose it!! I hope each of you have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and prosperous New Year. Thank you for making the College of Southern Idaho such a wonderful place to work. Enjoy your many blessings and your time off and make sure you do something to make you happy!

New Faces on Campus

Tara Williams, New Position

Student Disabilities Coordinator

Taylor 271, ext. 6268

It is such a pleasure to begin working here at CSI as I return to Twin Falls after living and working in Africa and Asia for the past few years. Before coming to CSI as the Student Disabilities Services Coordinator, I have thoroughly enjoyed my career serving students as an instructor, a social worker, a mentor, a counselor and a guidance director. I love to spend my free time exploring new places with my wonderful husband and daughter.

Alisa Clark, Replacing Angie Durham

Student Financial Aid Advisor

Taylor Matrix, 6279

My name is Alisa Lyman Clark. I am the newest Financial Aid Advisor in the Financial Aid Office. I recently moved to the area to be with my fiancé (now husband). We got married at the end of September. I have a BS in English Literary Studies from Utah State University, and I still enjoy reading and writing. Other spare time activities include spending time with family and my dog, watching movies, and working on various home improvement projects.

I have been working as a Financial Aid Advisor at Utah Valley University for the past few years in Orem, Utah, and I am excited to transition to a smaller school while still working in a career that I love. I am originally from a small town in Central Utah, so moving to this area feels like coming home.
