April is World Landscape Architect Month. Landscape Architects across Canada are gearing up to celebrate their profession along with landscape architects across the world. [1] April was chosen in concert with Earth Day on April 22 and the April 27 birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted, founder of the landscape architecture profession in North America. Here are just some of the celebration events planned across the country:

Landscape Architect Student Works’Exhibition – April 24, 2009 University of Manitoba

The University of Manitoba, Faculty of Architecture has organized a year end exhibition at the J. A. Russell Building (U of M) on April 24, 2009 at 7:00 pm (the exhibit will remain open April 27th and 28th). NuALA Award Presentation to the City of Iqaluit – April 14, 2009

The Nunavut Association of Landscape Architects (NuALA) is launching an annual awards series recognizing excellence and innovation in landscape architecture, design, planning, management, conservation and research. This year’s award will be presented to the City of Iqaluit and stone mason Mary Crnkovich, for the design and construction of stone works throughout the city. City of Calgary celebrates landscape architecture

Calgary’s City Hall will be decorated with banners recognizing the role of parks and landscape architecture to the life of the city.
