"An Evening with Randy Kelly"

Palais Royale, Morris Performing Arts Center

October 11, 2009 - 7:00 p.m.

Lampkin Music Group is proud to present "An Evening with Randy Kelly" October 11th, 2009 at 7:00 in the Palais Royale located at the Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend.

This special event is a benefit for the Public Education Foundation's Roland Kelly Language Arts Grant. This prestigious award is given out annually to a deserving teacher in the South Bend Community School Corporation.

Roland's legacy of community involvement that included nearly 16 years as a member of the South Bend Common Council, serving as a news anchor and news director at WSBT-TV and having yet another career in marketing and business development for a local bank, is well documented. As Mayor Steve Lueckestated at Roland's memorial service "He was a treasure," said Luecke, who praised Kelly for his steadfast belief in doing the right thing, "He never took the easy path." Kelly was a trusted adviser who brought grace and style to city government. "I will miss his advice, I will miss the twinkle in his eye, his wit and wisdom," Luecke said.

Lampkin says Randy is a fine singer. "I have had the privilege of producing him at the South Bend Museum of Art and the Acorn Theater. Having been a friendhis father's for several years prior to meeting Randy, it makes perfect sense to me to continue carrying on the Kelly name in song. Roland and I had many talks about music, old and new. He also loved the visual arts, having helped insecuring the 305 West Colfax Street building that houses the 3D arts organization, Fire Arts, Inc. Once Professor Langland retired at IUBS, there was no place for the older art students to go. IUSBclosed the bronze studios. So, through Roland's help, the artists were reborn as Fire Arts, Inc."

Randy will perform the music of the Great American songbook with a quartet of Chicago based musicians. This show will bedirected/produced by Ralph Lampkin, Jr, owner of Lampkin Music Group. The event will return the Palais to it's glorious days of dancing, with a special instrumental hour after the concert.

Proceeds to benefit the Roland Kelly Language Arts Grant Endowment.

Tickets are $30.00.
