Field Locations (subject to change due to field availability):

  • 8U – home games and practices will be at Grace United Church in Uniontown and St. Jacobs Church on State St.
  • We do play in the Northeast Ohio baseball league so away games will be played through-out Portage County.

Equipment:

  • Lake Youth Baseball will provide batting helmets and baseballs. Your child will need a baseball glove. Each team should have some bats to share, but you may wish to purchase your child their own bat (no regulations). You can also furnish your own helmet if you chose, face masks are not required. Baseball cleats with rubber spikes are strongly suggested, but regular gym shoes are permitted. Please note that we do play on a regular dirt infield. LYB will also provide one set of catcher’s equipment for each team. If your child desires to catch, they must wear an athletic cup.

Important Dates:

  • Picture Day: Saturday, April 29th
  • LYB Night at the Akron Rubber Ducks: Tuesday, May 9th

Youth baseball is meant to be FUN for all participants, the LYB board and volunteer coaches will do everything we can to keep it that way, but we need everyone’s help. Please encourage your player to respect their coaches, teammates and opposing teams, and enjoy the game! 8U baseball is about preparing players for “kid pitch” at the next level. It is a game of inclusion and not exclusion. Equal playing time will be given to all players, and all players will bat even if they are not on the field defensively. Players will be moved between the infield and the outfield to learn and experience multiple positions. Coaches will pitch to their respective team in the 3rd and 4th innings while they are at bat. The 8U players will get to pitch the 1st, 2nd, 5th & 6th innings. If you would like a complete list of league rules, please request a copy from your coach or league commissioner.

Thank you for registering your child with Lake Youth Baseball, I am confident this will be a great season and experience for you and your child. Additional information can be found at lakeyouthbaseball.com, or feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Sincerely,

Brent Schrock
