  • We will begin accepting the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN. We will continue to accept the current version of the Direct PLUS Loan MPN through February 29, 2008.
  • Paper versions of the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN, stand-alone Direct PLUS Loan BRR, and Direct PLUS Loan PLD will be available for schools to order in bulk from the FSA Pubs Web site. Orders may be placed in advance, but shipping will occur after October 24, 2007. Of course, schools may also print the attached revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN for distribution to borrowers on or after October 13, 2007.
  • Microsoft Word versions of the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN, stand-alone Direct PLUS Loan BRR, and revised Direct PLUS Loan PLD will be available on the Direct Loan Web site.
  • We will include the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN (and, if applicable, the revised Endorser Addendum and/or the revised Direct PLUS Loan PLD) in paper Direct PLUS Loan MPN packages under the following circumstances:
  • When the school has opted to have the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System print MPNs; or
  • When the school has not opted to have the COD System print MPNs, but includes a Promissory Note Print code of “S”, “R”, “Z”, or “V” in the award.
  • We expect to post an EDExpress Service Release (Release 3.1) on October 19, 2007 to accommodate the use of the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN. Further information will be provided in separate communications.
  • We will provide print specifications for the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN in the COD Technical Reference in late October 2007.

School Actions Continued
Note: Schools that create their own promissory notes must submit a copy of the school-produced version of the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN to Federal Student Aid for testing to ensure that it can be processed. A school-produced MPN that is submitted for testing should contain only test data, and the shipping package should be clearly identified as being for testing purposes only. Test copies should be mailed to:
Department of Education
ATTN: MPN Testing Only
P.O. Box 5691
Montgomery, AL 36103
The package should include contact information (name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address) so that the MPN Testing Team can communicate with the school, if needed.
Beginning March 1, 2008…
We will accept only the revised Direct PLUS Loan MPN that has an expiration date of 08/31/2010. If the current version of the Direct PLUS Loan MPN (expiration date 01/31/2006) is submitted on or after March1, 2008, it will be rejected.
