  • Applications will only be considered from Commercial or Residential Marina Facilities (Homeowner’s Associations), Local Government, Private Facilities with documented wake damage or specific requests from Law Enforcement (Lake Patrols).
  • An application fee of $150.00 must accompany all applications made payable to the Lake Norman Marine Commission.
  • The No-Wake Buoy(s) must comply with the attached No-Wake Buoy & Installation Specifications, be installed by an approved LNMC Contractor, and paid for by the Applicant.

  1. Consistent with the Type of Application, please attach the written request authorizing the submission of this Application. In the case of an HOA appropriate data should be supplied that confirms the request is supported by the majority of the members.

In the case of a Cove location, all residents of that Cove must be notified in writing that an Application is being prepared, and also in writing that if and when a date is set for a Public Hearing, the date, time and place of the Public Hearing is advised. For other locations, the scope of the area for affected residents to be notified (as for a Cove) and will be determined by discussions with the LNMC. Mailing confirmations will be discussed and confirmed with the LNMC.

5. Lake Patrol or Sheriff’s Dept. reports regarding violation of No-Wake zones must be documented using the attached Violation Report Form. At least 5 reports are required over a minimum period of 5 months. If HOA’s or Private Facilities are involved then these Forms must be completed by at least 3 different Applicants. Residents are encouraged to document violations via video and pictures to provide evidence for law enforcement and for attachments to the Violation Report Form.

6. The applicant(s) agree(s) to purchase, be installed by an approved by an approved LNMC Contractor & Installation Specifications, the “No Wake” buoy(s) according to the Specifications and Requirements provided by the Lake Norman Marine Commission by using an approved LNMC contractor.(See Attachment A)

7. The applicant agrees to be responsible for necessary maintenance and/or replacement of buoys and if for any reason displaced from the original approved location, moved back into the proper position. It is understood if proper maintenance or re-positioning does not occurwithin one month of notification, that the LNMC will remove these Buoy(s).
