Course Evaluation Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry

Course: Nordic course in analytical tools in combustion #12/14

  1. I found the course content

easy difficult

  1. Lectures were

clear/interesting difficult to follow

  1. Course literature / handout material was

excellentneeds improvement

  1. Exercises were

useful not so useful

5. The exam corresponds to the course content well poorly

6. My average participation / contribution given in hours was

lectures exercises independent studies

Specific comments on the course. Mainly ÅA but also some comments on the rest of the course

I think this part of the course was very well organized. It is great to see the unique instruments and analytical techniques here. The best part of the Nordic course I think.

Well organized in time planning

Well prepared lectures and exercises

Very good that all the teachers were available to answer questions after the experiment during presentation preparation

Very good wrap up of all parts of the course as a whole. Looking forward to the reports

Well organized

Enough time at each point in the lab and making the presentation

Good idea that one group is collecting all data and then presenting

Nice set of experiments

Nice dinner!

Overall this course is very good. It is very useful especially to those dealing with the high temperature of combustion research. It has opened our eyes on how the equipment/analysers look like /working at least

All the instructors are excellent

The structure of the course is well organized

I really would like to thank you for a good prepared and organized course

The structure and tasks were very clear, already from the beginning. The combination between theory on the first day and the following experiments was good.

I appreciate the good work done by Maria and all others who helped to make this course valuable as it is. It was especially nice to have such an active contribution of prof. Mikko Hupa, which has not been the case at the other parts of the Nordic course.

Mikko’s session extremely good

Very nice and well managed course. The structure was excellent and I learned a lot about analytical techniques in biofuels combustion

The course was very good but I didn’t like the climate in the lecture room. Too cold and dry air.

Comments about the whole course

DTU: The general impression of the course is that I’ve learned a lot about different techniques. I really enjoyed the course in DTU where we worked over a few days with the same equipment.

DTU: I did not like it not to have a chance to work more with all equipment

DTU: The reports and presentations on what the other groups did was poor.

ÅA: In Finland we worked with different techniques which didn’t give much time to find the challenges with the equipment, BUT the exam really summarized all the work and clearified problems/thoughts/questions

CTH: Unfortunately the course started abrupt with no clear concept of the whole course

CTH+NTNU: The course involved a lot of standing around watching other people work. This does not teach you very much. Learning=doing

All:The idea with a project report from the course is very good and hopefully it will tun-out well. I think it is unnecessary to aim at a publicable result.

This course only gives 10ETC, which is not enough to put in too much extra time.

I am very happy with the group structure and the arrangement around the group work (best at NTNU)

Next time all course dates should be set in advance

NTNU:We waste a day with calculations that no one understood. Unstructured and confusing. Needs to be changed if kept in the course
