LA3 social issue movie review

After watching the movie, take a position on the following prompt – Modern human beings, if removed from civilization, will retain civilized opinions, morals, and behaviors.

In the first paragraph, frame the topic, by talking generally about what it means to be civilized. Then, keeping in mind what you have seen in the movie, state your position on the prompt and provide three general statements that would support your position. These will most likely be either statements that say what virtues people would retain even without civilization or vices we would develop once civilization is removed, depending on your position (EX: Without a civilized society around them, people will become more lustful; or EX: without a civilized society around them, people will still be charitable.)

In the three body paragraphs, turn each of the general statements from the introduction into a paragraph. Make a topic sentence where you state your claim (from the intro example I provided, I may have used “When they are removed from civilization, humans become more lustful”). Next, support it using evidence from the movie. That evidence can be specific lines of dialogue, it can be actions the characters took, it can be the way a scene is shot or lit or the camera angles which are used – any or all of these are appropriate evidence to support your point. Finally, explain why your evidence supports your claim in that paragraph. Why or in what way does your evidence prove your claim? Do your audience’s thinking for them.

In the final paragraph, evaluate how well the author has achieved his purpose (assuming his purpose was to take and support the position that you have taken and supported in this paper). Weigh the evidence you have provided against any counter-arguments and counter-evidence and say how effectively he has achieved his purpose. Was his position clearly superior, or is the issue still in doubt after watching the movie?

Skip lines, be specific with your evidence, and be sure to show your reasoning and explain why your evidence supports your claim in each paragraph and why those claims in each paragraph support your position as taken in your introduction.
