M I N U T E S

1. Introductions were done and everyone participated in an ice breaker to get to know one another.

2. What’s Up with Your Campus SAAC – Each institution reported on what their SAAC has been up to and what they have planned for the upcoming months.

3. Conference Office Update

- 20th Anniversary to be celebrated 2016-17 – Slatcoff reported that the conference will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year and that we will be unveiling a new logo at that time. We will also celebrate the anniversary a few other ways throughout the academic year (possibly t-shirts or signage for the campuses), but will save the “bigger” celebrations for the 25th anniversary.

- Students at NCAA convention – Slatcoff gave an overview of the NCAA convention and what to expect when they are there.

- Careers Workshop – April 1-3 – The AMCC and the PAC are teaming up to host a career workshop for students interested in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics. The workshop will take place the first weekend in April and will be hosted by La Roche College. The workshop will be for ethnic minority and female students at member institutions. If anyone in attendance at the meeting qualified to attend, but was not aware of this program, they were encouraged to speak with their AD tomorrow when they get back to campus.

- Spring meetings on Sunday, April (North at Medaille, South at Pitt-Greensburg) – Slatcoff reminded everyone of the spring meetings and that attendance is mandatory.

4. Review of NCAA Legislative Proposals

a. Student-athletes discussed the legislation regarding deregulation of electronic transmissions during the recruiting process. This would include opening up Facebook and Twitter to be free range and allowing the coaches complete access to PSA’s personal Facebook and Twitter accounts. The AMCC student-athletes did not support this proposal (2 in favor, 8 opposed)

b. The proposal regarding student-athletes being able to use their athletic ability at a fundraiser was supported by all 10 schools in attendance.

c. The proposal regarding strength and conditioning coaches being permitted to reserve an athlete-only weight room for athletes out of season was discussed briefly. MAC is the only conference school with an athlete-only weight room and they supported this proposal.

5. Leadership Program - Guest Speaker: Ken Achenbach, Allegheny College
