Classroom Policies for
S. Johnson’s Math Classes
Grading Policy: The following will make up the student’s grade:
Homework, and other assignments: 30%
Individual tests/quizzes: 70%
The points will be accumulated for the above and following scale will be applied:
90%-100%A
80%-89%B
70%-79%C
60%-69%D
0%-59%F
A GRADE “C” OR HIGHER IS RECOMMENDED TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT MATH CLASS.
Homework: Every effort will be made to post assignments on the school’s website. In general, assignments are due the day after they are assigned. Students will have an assignment log which parents are expected to sign after an assignment is given. Please do not sign the entire page in advance.
Make-up Policy: Work may only be made up when student’s absence is verified. For homework one day is allowed for each day of absence. A missed individual test must be made up the day the student returns.
Materials: Students are required to bring all needed materials to class every day. All students will need the following: 3-ring binder or folder, math book(s), pencils, paper (both lined and graph), a geometry set (ruler, compass, and protractor) and a graphing calculator.
Extra Help:Tutoring after school on Wednesdays in room 915. The textbook is online and it is an excellent resource (includes tutorials) for students. Check website for additional tutoring in math, it will be posted shortly.
Policies On Cheating:If a student is caught cheating the student will receive a zero for his/her work and will be required to obtain a parent’s signature on that work. The student will also receive a “U” for citizenship.
Discipline:A student’s actions must not disrupt the education process. The most disruptions are talking at inappropriate times, and being disrespectful, which includes profanity and put-downs for other people in class. Do not do this and keep in mind the idea of treating others the way you would want to be treated. A student is tardy if the student is not in the seat before the tardy bell rings. See student handbook for more information regarding this policy. Students are in assigned seats-no wandering around the classroom.
Consequences:Verbal warning, changed seating, student conference, parent conference, detention and/or referral to counselor, or dean of discipline. (Consequences may be assigned in any order and as a combination)
