Local 79 Interdivisional Transfer Request Form
For CUPE Local 79 Permanent, Temporary andPart-Time Unit "B" Employees
Use this form only to request a transfer within your current base job classification to another division within the same or different location. You must list the division(s) to where you wish to be transferred. Please ensure that you complete the mandatory sections noted below as incomplete forms will be returned to you. If you indicate an interest in a specific location in another division, you will only be considered for vacancies in that location.
To request a transfer to another location within your current division you must submit a written request to your division head or designate. Please do not use this form.
Permanent employees will be considered for a transfer to both permanent and temporary (one year or more) positions. Temporary employees will be considered for a transfer to a temporary position. Part-time Unit B employees will be considered for a transfer to a part-time unit B position.
Your transfer request form will be removed from the system, if you:
- accept a transfer to one of your preferred divisions
- refuse an offer of transfer to one of your requested divisions and location (if applicable)
- withdraw this transfer request
- move to a different job classification
The City may conduct an assessment (s) if it is deemed necessary. As part of the selection process for all transfers, employment references will be completed.
If you are placed in a temporary transfer assignment, you will be required to remain in the temporary assignment for the specified duration before you can submit or be considered for another transfer in accordance with Article 14 (Transfers) of the Local 79 full-time collective agreement.
If you wish to change your current preferred division/ geographical area/location, you must submit a new form. Upon receipt of your new Request Form, your previous form will be removed from the database.

- Send the completed transfer request form to your current division’s Strategic Recruitment & Employment Services unit in a sealed envelope marked “confidential” using interoffice mail. Make sure to include:
-a copy of relevant certificates and licences, if applicable.
