KYRLCA Book Fund Scholarship

The Kentucky Rural Letter Carriers’ Association is offering its members, their children and grandchildren an opportunity to apply for funds to assist in continuing their education. The book fund is not automatically awarded nor is it automatically renewed. Applicants must submit an updated, new application each year to be considered to receive the award. The Association reserves the right to choose not to award the scholarship at any time.

Former Past National President Scottie Hicks believed in giving back to the community. While that is not the sole criteria for receiving the award, the applicant should use community service as a theme when applying for the award. At one time, community service was defined as services volunteered by individuals or an organization to benefit a community or its institutions. A more recent definition of community service is work performed by law offenders to serve a sentence in lieu of or in addition to jail time. Making the world a better place should be the goal of each of us. To quote Mahatma Gandhi, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Applications must be made neatly and legibly to be considered. Completed applications should be mailed to the State Secretary/Treasurer. Deadline for receiving the application is June 1, 2017. Late applications will not be considered. Awards will be presented at the 2017 State Convention in Pikeville, KY. If you have questions as to the process, please contact one of the KYRLCA Board Members.
