KUWAIT ENDOMARCH 2015
It was so inspirational to read about Team Kuwait’s amazing EndoMarch 2015 event, organized and sponsored by Kuwait Country Captain, Dr. Salma Kayani, and her phenomenal team! Here are some excerpts taken from a summary Dr. Kayani provided to us:
DR. KAYANI:
“I just wanted to update you regarding the excellent and hugely successful EndoMarch event we held on the 28th March 2015 in Kuwait. The event was held in the iconic Al Hashemi Ballroom in Radisson Blu Hotel in Kuwait. This ballroom is the actual ballroom of a real time large ship. It is a world heritage site in Kuwait and holding our event there meant that our awareness became part of the few landmark national events which are held at this magnificent venue. The US Ambassador to Kuwait, his Excellency Mr Douglas Silliman was the chief guest. He had just flown back from the US after participating in an international meeting on Global healthcare issue and had stated that the US was committed to support global healthcare issues and Endometriosis was clearly one of them. I gave a talk on different presentations and the laparoscopic management of endometriosis and how this disease affects lives of our mothers, daughters, wives and sisters.
Later in the program Dr. Walid Al-Salim, Consultant Emergency Medicine, spoke on pain and howthe Emergency Room care can assist inthe management of endometriosis as well as other women’shealth problems. Then Ms. Wadha Al-Qahas, a patient of mine and a leader of a reputableorganisationinthe public healthcare sector in Kuwait, described her personal experience of the devastating effects of Endometriosis and how the surgical treatment she had received from me had helped get rid of all her pain and suffering she had been living with for more than 20 years.
After the key speakers speeches, more than 100 guests participated in the EndoMarch with yellow balloons and flags to the top of the Al Hashemi Ship where the balloons were released as a symbolic gesture of awareness and empowerment. Many women from all walks of life including expat representative from many embassies joined in themarch.Following this, everyone was invited to a buffet. Many of the guests expressed appreciation and stated that they were glad to hear that the problem of Endometriosis was finally being addressed and that they were pleased to learn more about the treatment of this disease. Our event was covered extensively by local print andelectronic media.”
