KTSC Junior Girls and Boys Tennis Ladders

The KTSC junior tennis ladder is to be operational all 12 months of the year. The aim of the ladder is to encourage juniors to play matches and to keep their tennis up all year round.

When interclub teams are chosen at the beginning of each season, ladder challenge results will be one of the factors taken into account. If you would like to be in a higher position on the ladder…….……….MAKE A CHALLENGE!

Rules

1.  Each player may have one “open challenge” per year (the year being from 1 May of one year to 30 April of the next). This means that you are able to challenge anyone on the ladder no matter how many places above you on the ladder they are.

2.  After your open challenge, you are only able to challenge someone who is no more than 3 places above you on the ladder.

3.  Matches shall be the best of 3 sets up to 4 games with short deuces and a tie breaker at 4-4.

4.  When you make a challenge, you must:

Write the challenge up on the sheet on the noticeboard, checking that the other player is not already facing another challenge (this must be done first);

Contact the player you have challenged to tell them and arrange a time to play. If you need the contact details of the other player, please email the KTSC office, or Susan at .

Book a court at KTSC so the challenge can be played at the agreed time.

Provide 2 good quality balls to play the challenge with.

5.  The player challenged must agree to play the match within two weeks of the challenger advising them that they have made the challenge. If they do not agree to play the match within two weeks, or default (please see Exception provisions below), then they will move down the ladder to the position below the challenger. Note: This rule only applies in term time. Challenges may be played in the school holidays only if both parties agree.

6.  If a player retires from a match, this result will count towards the ladder.

7.  A player may only be challenged by one player at a time. You may not challenge a player who has already been challenged until that challenge has been played.

8.  Each player is entitled to make an unlimited number of challenges per term and must, if challenged, accept two challenges per term.

9.  A player cannot challenge the same person more than twice per term.

10. When the challenge has been played, the score must be written up on the noticeboard beside the challenge and, if the challenger is the winner, an email must be sent to advising the result.

EXCEPTIONS

1. In the event of wet weather/sickness/injury and the match needs to be postponed, both parties have a further two weeks to arrange the rescheduled challenge match.

2. If the challenged player is away and the match cannot be played in the two week window, then the player can challenge the next player above the person away.

AUTOMATIC CHALLENGES

1. When two Khandallah teams play each other for interclub, the matches are automatically ladder challenges.

2. If you play in a tournament against another Khandallah player, this is a ladder challenge provided the match is played to a minimum of the best of 13 games (except matches involving B grade and above players, which must be the best of 3 sets up to 4 games) If you play such a match and the player positioned lower on the ladder wins, that player is responsible for emailing Jackie Liddell with the result.

PLAYERS TO ARRANGE CHALLENGES

Please note that it is junior players, and not parents, who are to organize ladder challenges.
