Tournament Rules:

Indexes as of the 1st or the 15th of each month will be used for handicaps. Only a 10-stroke difference between partner handicaps is allowed. If handicaps differ by more than 10 strokes, the higher handicap will be reduced to within 10 strokes of the lower handicap. Upper and lower flights will be based upon team handicaps.

Tournament Format:

The tournament is Partner Better Ball with Match Play. For handicap purposes, the player with the lowest handicap will be given a handicap of zero. All other handicaps in the foursome will reflect this. Each player plays his own ball. A player's gross score is recorded and underneath is the player's net score. The team score is the better of the two net scores, and the team who has the lowest score on the hole wins the hole.

The team that wins the most holes is the winner. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners. Winners in their first match will receive back their entry fees. KSMGC may contribute $ to augment the 1st and 2nd place winners' prizes.

Teams arrange their own matches; all matches must be played at Knollwood CC. The number of matches will depend upon the number of teams entered. The first round matches must be completed by April 1, 2018 (2nd round matches played in month of April, 3rd in May, etc.). Inform the Tournament Chairman (Scott Smith) of the date of a tournament match so correct handicaps can be established and results posted. Bracket pairings and results will be posted on our website and in the pro shop at Knollwood.

Ties:

Playoff rules (to break ties) must be decided in advance of the match. Our recommendation is to replay the 1st hole and continue in sudden death until a winner is decided. You will need to check with the starter to gain approval to play extra holes. Matches must be replayed in case of a tie with no tie-breaker established prior to the beginning of the match.
