PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois

Senior Admission Counselor/Recruiter (June 2006 – Present)

Act as departmental supervisor to oversee the daily operations in the office of College Admission Services.

  • Supervise and train professional and support staff members. Also provides input for evaluations, disciplinary and termination decisions.
  • Supervisor in the absence of the Director;
  • Train new hires, volunteers, student workers and internal transfer employees on admission processing, counseling and/or recruitment.
  • Meet with faculty, chairmen and program directors of various colleges within institution, (College of Nursing, and College of Health Sciences) to review updates and changes in their programs.
  • Sit on the College of Nursing PhD and Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) Operations Committee for pool file review and student selection.
  • Well versed in the student information system to retrieve information, create and run reports, and use the communication management options.
  • Process and prepare applications for assigned application groups in a timely and accurate manner. This includes contacting applicants to advise them of missing documents and the status of their application, calculating GPAs, checking for prerequisite courses, updating information in the student information system, and preparing files for faculty interviews and /or Admissions Committee review.
  • Counsel prospective applicants, (pre and post high-school), on career tracks and planning.
  • Update recruitment materials including printed materials and brochures.
  • Share responsibility with Director for counseling rejected applicants in future planning and possible education development;
  • Maintain knowledge of recruitment trends and information by participating in professional organizations, attending seminars, and reading professional journals and articles.
  • Oversee quality control for applicants transferring to Registrar for various programs.
  • Act as a representative of Rush University at recruitment activities, including transfer fairs, graduate and professional fairs, Rush recruitment activities, and a local, state and national conferences.

Admissions Counselor/Recruiter (October 2002-2006)

Implemented college/university recruitment activities in Chicago as well as in contiguous states; tenured academic Counselor/Advisor to prospective students, Public Relations representative of Rush University and member of state and national organizations.

  • Oversee quality control for applicants transferring to Registrar for various programs
  • Evaluate, review and prepare applications for final Admissions Committee review. Responsible for screening, sourcing selecting applicants for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
  • Calculate Grade Point Averages for the College of Health Science programs, i.e., Occupational Therapy, Perfusion, Clinical Laboratory Science, Vascular Ultrasound, Healthcare Ethics, and the College of Nursing programs, i.e., Doctorate programs (PhD and DNP).
  • Prepare various statistical and miscellaneous reports for the College of Nursing and Health Science
  • Developed marketing strategies, and set future goals for recruitment within the U.S.
  • Represent Rush University at major annual conferences and fairs within the U.S.
  • Plan and implement, in conjunction with the university’s vice president of Marketing, department chairs, faculty and staff on ways to improve marketing for their department
