Kokomo School Corporation Pilot Attendance Bonus Program
The parties agree to pilot an attendance bonus program for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years. A teacher who uses 2 or fewer sick/personal leave days during the school year shall have the opportunity to request compensation in exchange for the unused days.
If the teacher misses 0 days, the teacher may roll into his/her accumulation 2 days, unless the teacher’s accumulation is already at the maximum accumulation cap, and the School Corporation will buy back, at the teacher’s request, 10 unused days for a total flat dollar sum of $1,000.
If the teacher misses 1 or 2 days, the School Corporation will buy back 8 unused days for a total flat dollar sum of $600.00. If 1 day is missed and 8 days are bought back, then the teacher may roll 3 unused days into his/her accumulation unless the teacher’s accumulation is already at the maximum accumulation cap. If 2 days are missed and 8 days are bought back, then the teacher may roll 2 unused days into his/her accumulation unless the teacher’s accumulation is already at the maximum accumulation cap.
Any request for payment for the attendance bonus must be requested within 30 days of the teacher’s last contractual day worked for the applicable school year and the payment will be made into the teacher’s 401(a) account. No match is required by the teacher to receive this deposit, but existing vesting requirements must be met by the teacher in order to realize this contribution to the teacher’s 401(a) account. The Good Attendance Program is related to personal/sick days missed. Other excused absences including professional development leave, bereavement, jury duty, etc. will not impact this bonus.
