Dear Patient
Proposed MERGER NOTIFICATION
We are pleased to announce that we have been approached by a local, long established and well respected Practice in South Kensington about a possible merger. Drs Boreham and Dr Rowley of nearby Thurloe Street SW7, who have practised in the area for over 30 years, are proposing that they and their full team will move to Knightsbridge Medical Centre premises on 10th April 2017. At some time in the future both Dr Boreham and Dr Rowley intend to retire from the NHS and their wish is to facilitate a successful merger in advance of doing this.
This a positive change for the practice in that there will be additional clinical staff working at the Practice and access to clinicians will be maintained and improved.
In terms of the routines that presently exist for you as one of our patients, you will continue to receive a high quality service without any change as to how or when you are seen by our clinicians. The merging process with Dr Boreham and Dr Rowley will be a seamless procedure as our two GP clinical computer systems are identical.
As everyone is aware there are new challenges facing the NHS with an expectation of longer opening hours and a steady increase in the number of services being carried out in the Community rather than in Hospitals. This merger will allow economies of scale and enable Knightsbridge Medical Centre to meet these challenges by increasing staff numbers, both clinical and administrative and hence provide more medical cover, more diverse medical expertise and a greater choice for patients.
Knightsbridge Medical Centre and the Thurloe Street Practice previously approached NHS England and West London CCG (the bodies responsible for commissioning GP services) for approval of our proposal in June 2016. In their reply of 21st December 2016 they supported the idea of a merger in principle subject to both practices engaging with patients and obtaining their views and that is what we are seeking to do now.
We have recently discussed this arrangement in great detail with our Patient Reference Group when encouragingly full support was offered. To that end, we would welcome patients seeking further information to contact the Practice Manager. At the Reception, a Comments Box is available to give your feedback, and if you prefer by mail to the Surgery.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Martin Levantine
Practice Manager
