KNF Presents Itself As a Partner for 3D Printing

PRESS RELEASE

KNF presents itself as a partner for 3D printing

KNF has long been a trusted partner for manufacturers of industrial digital printing equipment. KNF gas and liquid pumps perform essential tasks for the transfer of ink in industrial inkjet printing and are renowned for their durability and maintenance-free design. Now the globally operating company is taking the next step: At INPRINT 2016, KNF will be presenting itself as partner to manufacturers of industrial 3D printing equipment, with a spotlight on jetting technology.

3D printing is an additive production process, where industrial-grade parts are built up layer by layer out of a bulk material in powder form following a digital template. Binder jetting is a new development, in which a liquid binder is deposited onto the powder to bind the layers together. This process works with almost any material available in powder form. Similar to industrial inkjet printing, print heads are used to deposit the binder onto the powder in a targeted and precise manner. This is where KNF’s extensive experience in the area of liquid and gas pumps comes in.

To achieve optimal results in 3D printing, it is vital that the binder print head apply the binder with the utmost reliability. KNF is up to this task: While liquid pumps transfer the binder, gas pumps use a special vacuum process to prevent the binder from dripping uncontrollably from the print head. The properties of the binder pose a particular challenge, as the binder is cold, viscous and aggressive. However, with many years of experience in developing pumps for industrial processes, KNF is well prepared to take on this challenge. KNF pumps never fail to impress with their robustness and durability, particularly when working with problematic substances, as the materials for the wetted pump components are specifically selected depending on the chemical composition of the medium. At the same time, the pumps offer extraordinary flexibility. With their compact design, ability to be installed in any position and fully adjustable controls, all pump components can be adapted to meet the needs of the equipment.
