ADOPTION AGREEMENT
The Klamath Animal Shelter/Large Animal Division reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any large animal if it determines that the adopter and animal are not a good match. The adopted animal must have adequate shelter, feed of sufficient quantity and quality to maintain normal growth and maintenance, and an unlimited supply of drinkable water. The adopted animal must remain in good health and be provided medical attention when needed.
It is the adpopter’s responsibility to see that vaccinations and worming be completed on a timely basis. The adopted animal’s hooves must be trimmed on a regular basis, and additional hoof care must be provided when needed.
The adopter must never place the animal with an abusive trainer. The adopter shall ensure that all contact with humans and other animals be free from abuse and neglect. The adopter certifies that he/she has no prior convictions for animal neglect or abuse.
The adopter agrees to allow the Klamath Animal Shelter/Large Animal Division to monitor the well-being of the adopted animal. The Klamath Animal Shelter/Large Animal Division has the right to repossess at the time of inspection an animal found to be not properly cared for. The adopter agrees to pay all recovery costs and attorney fees incurred.
The adopter agrees to not sell, trade, give away, auction, lease, or use for any commercial purpose (other than showing) the large animal. If the adopter is unable to care for the adopted animal for any reason – it must be returned to the Klamath Animal Shelter/Large Animal Division.
ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITY
The adopter shall assume all liability and responsibility for the adopted large animal from the effective date of this agreement. The adopter agrees that by accepting the large animal he/she assumes full liability and responsibility for any expense or injury that is incurred by any person or animal.
If the adopted animal causes any damage to persons or property, the adopter agrees to fully indemnify and hold harmless the Klamath Animal Shelter/Large Animal Division, its employees, agents, representatives (individually and collectively) from all claims, demands, causes of action, costs, charges, and expenses.

By signing this ADOPTION AGREEMENT the adopter agrees to abide by its terms, relevant Oregon laws, and Klamath Animal Shelter/Large Animal Division’s Requirements for Adoption.
