Kiwanis Clubs of Coweta announce finalists for

2016 Coweta County Citizen of the Year

The nominees for the 2016 Coweta County Citizen of the Year have been announced, and they are Bob Coggin, Ruby Hines, Ginger Jackson Queener, Joel Richardson, Levi Robinson and Allison Wallace.

The winner will be announced when the Kiwanis Clubs of Coweta host the Citizen of the Year dinner on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds at 275 Pine Rd. in Newnan.

Bob Cogginof Newnan enjoyed a 42-year career with Delta Airlines, beginning as a Ramp Service Agent in Atlanta and eventually becoming the Executive Vice President of Marketing. He was one of four senior officers appointed to Delta’s newly created Executive Council, which basically ran all phases of the Delta operation. He retired in 1998 and formed Alpine Consulting. He currently serves on the Newnan City Council, and his civic and community involvement includes serving at Newnan Presbyterian Church, the Newnan-Coweta Boys and Girls Club, the Newnan Campus of the University of West Georgia, the Coweta Samaritan Clinic and the Flint River Council Boy Scouts of America.

Ruby Hines of Grantville was hired by the Coweta County School System in 1963 as an elementary school secretary and bookkeeper, and she retired in 2006 after 43 years of service to both Grantville Brown School and Moreland Elementary. A member of Greater Jehovah Baptist Church in Grantville for more than 50 years, Hines is the church’s secretary/treasurer, an Adult Sunday School teacher, President of the Usher Board, a member of the Intercessory Prayer Team, and teacher and founder of the Saturday Morning Bible Study group. She is President of the Grantville Kiwanis, a member of the City of Grantville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and a past board member of Coweta Pregnancy Services.

Ginger Jackson Queener of Newnan is Vice President of Wealth Management with UBS Financial Services, Inc. She is the founding partner of the Windward Wealth Management Group, where she has more than $125 million under management for families and one large nonprofit agency. Queenerrecently received the UBS Global Award for Volunteer Service, and she is a past recipient of the Central Division Award for Outstanding Achievement. A Past President of the Rotary Club of Coweta-Fayette, she received the Sheffield Award for Leadership and currently serves as Assistant District Governor. Queener says she is most passionate about her current role as Chairman of the Board of the Coweta Community Foundation.

Joel Richardson of Newnan has been the head pastor of Central Baptist Church in Newnan since 1984. Richardson started Central’s Helping Hands Project at the church to help those in the community who have home repair needs but are unable to complete them. He is a founding member of Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity, where he has served as a board member and as president. He is an on-call minister at Piedmont Newnan Hospital and counsels those who request a minister, regardless of their faith or background. He has also organized many mission trips in the U.S. and abroad. Richardson currently serves on the Ethics Panel at CTCA and the Board of Visitors of Wesley Woods of Newnan/Peachtree City.

Levi Robinson is the founder of Advanced Technology Logistics, Inc. in Newnan, recognized as one of the industry’s fastest growing small businesses providing an array of services in administrative and medical support, information technology, logistics, training and professional services. In 2015, Robinson was named Small Business Owner of the Year by the Atlanta Tribune, and he was a finalist for the Newnan-Coweta Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Awards in both 2013 and 2015. A retiredUS Army-Airborne Infantry soldier of 20 years, he was a finalist for the 2015 Minority Vetrepreneur of the Year Award from Vetrepreneur magazine. Robinson has also mentored many young men in the community and is founder of the Sharpsburg Stallions Youth Football.

Allison Wallace of Newnan serves as Executive Director of Bridging the Gap Community Outreach. Wallace’s vision is to make Coweta County a better place for everyone through Bridging the Gap as “they seek to be Christ’s hands and feet in the community through all they do.” Her leadership has been demonstrated through many Bridging the Gap programs, including the Food Outreach Ministry, Emergency Food Assistance, Partnership Ministry, Senior Feeding Partnership, Storehouse@BTG, Back to School Backpacks, Summer Lunch Program and Christmas in Coweta. Wallace, who is from England, is also a gospel music singer.

A dinner buffet on January 28 will precede the announcement of the Citizen of the Year.Tickets are $25 for individuals, $200 for tables of eight, and $300 for corporate tables.
